  1. I had a Mesa Powerhouse 410 that was delivered with a big smash in the corner a few years ago. Anything can be broken in transit if treated poorly enough!
  2. Close of play today... started to pelt it down with rain and the windows/doors aren't yet in... hopefully that won't cause issues. Back of building facing towards front door/shower room. Loo/shower room.
  3. Shut up! Yes it does! I'm right and you're wrong... I challenge you to a duel!
  4. I'd agree that the GR cab would sustain less hammer blows than a cab built from marine grade 13 ply board like Mesa cabs. But other things we gig with are much more fragile and worth a lot more so for me these cabs are perfectly stable enough for prolonged use - I don't intend to smash it with a hammer as much as I don't intend to drop my bass and crack it. Sure accidents will happen, but for me and my spine, these cabs are spot on! Totally horses for courses - if you enjoy treating your cabs poorly or gig places where you expect your gear will get kicked to pieces then I guess these aren't for you, but if you look after your gear and don't gig active warzones then you'll be fine! 😁
  5. I've had mine for 7-8 months and have taken it out about about weekly since the day of purchase and it doesn't have a scratch on it. It goes in the boot with the rest of the gear, gets loaded in/out etc, it doesn't get treated any differently to any of the other cabs, so I respectfully disagree with the views on construction!
  6. A photo from Friday... At close of play today the first fix electrics are in, 1.2 tons of plaster board have been marched down the garden and the roof is felted. Still a few weeks left, but it's really getting there!
  7. Appreciated mate but probably not worth it for me! Someone will be along to snatch it up I'm sure.
  8. Maxwell Murder - Rancid - Matt Freeman. Not the most technically advanced solo, but the cool factor is off the chain.
  9. I've had my GR AT410+ for around 6 months, I absolutely love it. For context, my prior rig was a Mesa Boogie Strategy Eight:88 with two 410 Powerhouse cabs, so I wasn't exactly coming from a shabby amateur rig! The AT410+ is obviously super lightweight, it sounds fantastic - very articulate, great bottom end, a really good all rounder. Construction feels a bit flimsy because of the weight, but it isn't - its a trick of the mind! I've had mine in and out of the car every week, up and down stairs once or twice a week, it's been used for maybe 6 hours at high volume every week and it's not missed a beat. I pair it with a GR Dual 1400 and it's pretty much the best rig I've had.
  10. I've had a few Gretschs in my time, they are underrated in my opinion. I had a stunning White Rancher 12 a little while ago, truly impeccable build quality for a circa £500 off the shelf instrument.
  11. Wait... there's beer?? I'm on my way over...
  12. Mr Hooker kindly sent me a pedal in need of a bit of TLC for the cost of postage. It arrived safely and promptly - another credit to BC!
  13. Great 6ers these that punch well above their weight.
  14. We might have changed the plan if we didn't have good distance from the two neighbours either side of us and zero neighbours to the rear. I've no doubt there'll be some sound spill, but I'm confident it won't be as issue given the location.
  15. Looks like the top of the cabs have the carbon weave showing vs the pre-2022 ones that have tolex on top and weave on the sides.
  16. End of the building day today. From the back corner... From the front door looking at the loo/shower room doorway... Inside the loo/shower room looking towards the back of the building...
  17. The 28 ground screws and the 10m x 4m framework was around 3.7k to have made and installed. The difficulty with concrete is getting up the garden, there is access from the side of the front of the house, but the location of the studio is 200ft+ up the garden, call it 300ft from the closest location a cement mixer could park. Also, there's the issue of the land being slightly sloped, so they would have had to remove another 50 odd tons of dirt to level the ground and dig the trenches which all would have needed to be barrowed down the garden and taken away by a grabber lorry. They've removed 40 tons of dirt as it is, with the ground screws, they can be 'ground level' at the back and raised by up to 1ft at the front to allow for level building on unlevel ground. Using ground screws and framework probably saved a weeks labour and is just as strong so thats where the cost saving is, it's also flexible to a degree so wouldn't crack under ground movement.
  18. Under that wool insulation is a 200mm thick layer of Jablite. And on top of that wool will be 50mm thermal insulation board, so it should be quite well sound proofed between the wood and render walls - maybe not to a professional standard, but I'm quite confident it'll be fine for the position of the studio. 4 more weeks and we shall see!!
  19. Sold my Electronic Drums to Ian, we met up in a not so shady car park and did the deed! All was smooth and importantly traffic was a breeze for once! Another easy BC transaction!
  20. Just to clarify, I'm not building this so I don't know what those terms mean! It'll simply be a well insulated building - there is no 'official' sound proofing. As mentioned we have structured band practice times between 1830 and 2230 on Thursdays. The building will be well insulated which will form a decent level of sound proofing. I assume your other comment as to the declination in dB over distance is based on there being no barrier between the drum kit and the listener 75m away? So that drop you've mentioned will be significantly improved by there being a building to form a barrier. At any rate, we won't be breaking any laws by playing music up until 2230!
