  1. If no one used social media, this couldn't happend and quite frankly the world would be a far better place for so many many reasons. In principle, so many human inventions are originally designed for good and moral reasons, however, inevitably, we as humans coat that good intention in a thick, indelible layer or evil tar that can never be removed once it infiltrates the good.
  2. Reckon if you sourced a replacement pick guard (I think Bass Direct could help), removed the vinyl and fret markers and put it back to BEADGC tuning, you'd have a much better chance of selling it! The Payson bridge is a good replacement for the original single bridge pieces. 👍
  3. Is the top a vinyl cover then? Not super obvious what it is from your description!
  4. 25th May 2007 here. Was also on the old site! Be interesting to know how many people came from Bassworld and are still active on Basschat.
  5. A fairly unique sound. Much like the appeal of a Rickenbacker and Warwick. They have their unique tone which not many other basses do a good job to replicate.
  6. Pretty sure these are interchangeable, so you can switch the orientation of each tuner to be L or R. Might make for a quicker sale!
  7. Just saw this in Colchester cash converters... Surely must have been someone's from here! Not cheap for a super niche instrument, but might be of interest to someone.

  8. 15 strings, if running tuning at standard intervals, is pointless. I had a 13 string bass made for me some years ago, the thickest string was a G#00 that resonated at 18hz, so right at the very very lowest range of human hearing. The highest fret of the sharpest string was right at the top end of human hearing. It also had a near unplayable fanned scale of 41" to 24" to make the strings actually function correctly. It was a bit of an experiment, and while it technically worked, going beyond 13 string is a pointless exercise unless you're using alternative tuning. Binky, my 10 string bass, is however right at the sweet spot of utterly ridiculous, completely awesome and totally useable! For those that haven't seen it, this is Binky (and my 8 string Conklin!)
  9. USA Conklin basses... Unbelievable things, exceptionally rare on the second hand market for very good reason. Bee Basses... for the same reason as the above!
  10. I might 'forget' the occasional comma in a sentence, at least I've not forgotten my wallet and jacket and had to do a second 200 mile journey!
  11. Me not no have thyme two cheque mye spelleng. Seems that you do though, so I'll leave it to you to continue to check for me!
  12. If you're anywhere near local to Essex, come to mine for a jam. I love a filthy riff and making stuff up on the spot - sometimes it's absolute crap, other times it turns into a giant beast of a song! I've got plenty of amps, basses, guitars, drums, etc. so there's plenty of room to stretch and have a good old fashioned noise making sessions! If you're anywhere near, let me know - you can just bring yourself and we can make some disgusting noise!
  13. And then no one will remember how to write or spell... I suppose the loss of writing and spelling is the next on the list of evolutionary 'forgotten' skills, much like making fire and hunter gathering. Be interesting to see if it gets replaced with anything that takes us to a higher evolutionary standard or if we've peaked and it's all downhill from here!
  14. I've had both Streamers and Thumbs, BO and NT. I do love their unique sound, but they are really heavy things (mine are all and have all been 6ers) and I find that after an hour my shoulder get very uncomfortable. The hang slightly more offset that most basses, so when playing stood up, the low end of the neck feels further away than say my EBMM Bongo. The tone is unique, and cuts like a knife - but they do have their challenges!
  15. Every bass/guitar description where the seller has used this 'AI' is exactly the same... How eBay think that rolling this out will improve sales, I don't understand!
  16. Psychologically, you already have.
  17. True, I forgot about that awful journey! I think I purged it from my memory... 😆
  18. Done Essex to Glasgow and back in a day for a Gibson J200 once. Also did Essex to San Francisco for a Conklin 9 string, but that was over a weekend.
  19. A storm of Thunderbirds?
  20. I get it in principle. It'd be like a Star Trek universe kind of scenario, where everyone works to better themselves and not for financial gain. But humanity isn't there yet, we're still all inherently selfish and look out for our own. What I earn, I work for and do 'things' outside of the norm (mostly excessive travelling and chairing numerous meetings etc.) to earn that. Some would prefer to earn a different wage and not do what I do. Same for me and other jobs I wouldn't want to do (even if I could) that earn differently. Choice and the reward for 'hard work' are necessary at the moment in the society we've built.
  21. Stitch is with that, you eliminate the reward aspect of years of learning. Why go through 6-8 years of training and education to be earning the same as a shelf stacker? Yes, we need shelf stackers, but there are those that would rather earn less and not go through rigorous learning and those that would choose to go through years of education to reach a goal. I agree, in an idealistic world, you're right. But in reality it wouldn't work as we'd have no surgeons and lots of stackers!
  22. Stunning! I went to Riga for only a weekend some years back - a fantastic city. 👍
  23. I suspect you're probably the only person to 'download to try' then go and spend money on the same thing you've already downloaded. If you could provide the evidence for stating that illegally downloading music etc. factually provided income for the industry, I'd love to see it!
