  1. Yeah, I gathered that thanks! But as mentioned a while back that was a photo of the build process with a wholly unshaped headstock, so I'm not sure what your 'not sure' comment means! Anyway, moving on...
  2. I suspect most of it will be under the bridge, I don't mind that though as there'll be a decent amount of the gold resin visible elsewhere, and yes, once the final finish is applied it will really be a visual beast!
  3. Nice! Great body colour and neck combo. I had a USA Sterling of the same/similar colour years back. You're in my neck of the woods too! Sadly, no funds for this very fairly priced gem.
  4. Back when it was just you and a handful of dinosaurs that resided in Belgium...
  5. The basses can stay forever, but that will mean we have to stay forever. Have the spare room made up, we're on our way!
  6. @Hellzero - Really you should be thanking David Cameron, he will be forever know as the person that orchestrated the demise of Britain! Is there any room in Belgium for me, my wife and my basses? 😁
  7. A quick update... The bass is now really coming along! To my eye the triple dots look great on a wider fretboard!
  8. If I didn't have an ACG a month away from completion I'd be tempted by these. I have a 30.5" ACG that Alan made for me about 2 years ago and it really does prove that short scale and micro scale basses are now truly as good/better than the usual 34" basses.
  9. If you have a ruler or tape measure you could easily tell us exactly. For a high price bass it is useful to provide good details especially when requested by a potential buyer!
  10. Get rid of that ramp and that is a tasty beast! I've had a few of these (different colours) and I can firmly say that they are some of the best 6 string basses out there! GLWTS
  11. Hi all, I have two Hurcules folding acoustic guitar stands and one fender folding acoustic guitar stand. £30 collected from Wickford for all 3 or £38 posted in the UK.
  12. I have a different garden these days, which will require many more 10 string basses to build an adequate fence! And as you can see, I have already turned Binky into decking...
  13. Hi all, Now have more straps than basses... So I'm offering up this beautiful leather handmade strap from EVO straps. This is just over 3" wide, fully padded and SUPER soft, it makes for really comfortable playing with any bass and has folded edges so doesn't 'cut in' to your shoulder. The current length hole-to-hole is 44" though this can be adjusted by circa 4" either way. (Dunlop strap locks not included!) I'm asking £35 posted or £30 collected from Wickford, Essex.
  14. For those that thought 8 was too many strings, here's an outdoor snap of the Conklin next to its bigger brother, Binky.
  15. @alembic1989 - A lot of Alan's 'odd scale' basses come equipped with custom Newtone strings made to fit the scale of the bass. These may not be Newtone, but that's usual practice for Alan! I've had a set of custom Newtone strings on the 25" Micro-Bee I recently sold and they sound superb, you really wouldn't know your playing a micro-scale bass from the sound and tone.
  16. It is in that video! (The effect of filming myself with a camera phone!) It is most assuredly a righty and NOT a lefty! Though ironically I am left handed for everything apart from bass/guitar. So, to confirm... this is a righty!
  17. Hi all, This is an extremely tentative listing purely to potentially raise some money for a new venture. It is quite an amazing bass. It has a Pink Ivory fretboard which is now an endangered species wood so can no longer be used for luthiery, so I've been informed. This bass was built as a 'show-stopper' by Bill Conklin himself for Ishibashi Music Company in Japan, literally no expensive was spared in its creation. It has dual active magnetic pickups specifically build for Conklin by Bartolini for this bass, as well as a RMI Piezo pickup in each of the custom bridge saddles and a full MIDI pickup system too. It has a custom Demeter pre-amp, and for those that know Demeter, you'll know this is a damn good thing. The overall construction is as good as it gets. Light Ash body wings with a think slab of Buckeye Burl on top, the through neck is Zebrawood and Wenge with a Pink Ivory fretboard and Wenge binding. The controls are: Top Row: Magnetic volume, magnetic blend, Piezo volume, MIDI volume. Second Row: Bass, Mid, Treble for the Magnetic pickups. Third Row: Piezo/Piezo and Magnetic/MIDI switch, Up/Down MIDI patch switch. It has a MIDI input as well a dual Neutrik Jack inputs. Swiss army knives compare themselves to this bass for versatility. To commission a like for like bass from Conklin today would be in excess of $10,000 without shipping and taxes. Including shipping and taxes this would cost close to £10,000 to bring into the UK and a near 2 year wait. Overall the bass is in excellent condition, some very minor markings on the top but nothing particularly noticeable. I'll take some better pictures tomorrow. Collection is VERY much preferred, however I can ship if all responsibility is assumed by the buyer. We can of course discuss insured shipping. Any questions, please ask.
  18. Stop taking photos next to my Mesa rig! It's just not cricket sir!
