I know exactly what you mean... I used to swerve ladder straps like there's no tomorrow but over the last few months of really going into a deep strap binge to find out what works best for me, it turns out that ladder straps are the one! Not having a metal/plastic buckle is a real bonus and good peace of mind against damaging your bass. As you say, once adjusted, I never adjust again. I know my preferred length and me being 6'4" I'm not planning on growing any more so can't see why I'd want to adjust regularly enough for ladder straps to be an issue. The perfect combination for me is 4.5 - 5" wide, suede underside, leather top, 4 - 6mm padding between, ladder adjusted to 115cm hole to hole, no metal/plastic to be seen and double stitched all the way around. THAT'S the magic combination! Trouble is, I can't really find anyone that does that combo at 5". Pinegrove do an excellent 4" strap and after speaking to them they're debating doing a 5" which if they do, then that'll be me sorted!!!

Extra points for the "Get 'er done dawg!" at the end! 😂

Carvin do a very 'Fender Acoustisonic' type bass: (Stock picture, not my bass!)

Hi all, (The one pictured below is the shorter strap, however I do have another Neotech strap that will do 51.5" centre hole to centre hole, happy to sell one and keep the other, so if you want the longer one, let me know!) Selling this almost new NeoTech padded strap, these are great things and support your bass beautifully! This is more or less unused, only used it for a few hours. Currently set at around 120cm, but can be adjusted either way. £20 posted to your door.

Hi all, Selling this rather beautiful Crooks Leathercraft hand made leather strap, it's a beautiful thing and feels worn to perfection. I had a strap made by Crooks for my 10 strings years ago, it was around £70ish, so I imagine this one would be maybe £60+ at least new. Asking £30 including postage. Set at around 120cm at the moment but is fully adjustable. A really nice strap!

@Martyin3d - I must admit a year or two ago I never wanted to stray away from 34"+ scale basses, but these days 33" and under are all I'm interested in. It does make a noticeable difference in comfort to play a 33" 6 string, and chordal work is much less of a stretch too. I have a 33" ACG 6 and a 30.5" ACG 6, and with the right strings the B on any bass isn't a problem. Newtone make some excellent strings for any scale of bass and are very reasonably priced. A set of Newtone 33" on this and you'll loose nothing in the B.

Getting too comfortable with 16.5 string spacing

And this is why I put the above 'disclaimer' at the end of a lot of posts! -
Getting too comfortable with 16.5 string spacing

I've never really understood how people find going between spacings so difficult. I mean maybe gong from 14mm to 20mm or vice verse might take a few minutes to get used to, but at the end of the day it's all a minor difference! It's like saying you can't drive any other car than your own because the pedals are 5mm further away or the gear stick is 3mm lower down, you adapt almost instantly to these things! I have a few basses with varying spacings including one with 16mm and one with 20mm, it's really no problem! I know it's all subjective, and the above is just my personal opinion! -
@Combed20 - My below comment from another similar thread might be of use: "It also depends how long you're prepared to wait for the sale... eBay generally sets a reasonable tone for market value as many people will see it and if you list it with no reserve and a £1 starting bid it will sell for what the market dictates is the price. With 12 good photos and a solid description you will get a fair return, especially if you wait until you get a £1 selling fee offer. I just sold an Ibanez ANB306 on eBay for £1266 under the above set of guidelines. Basschat is a worthwhile place to list your bass, £7 for one item for as long as it takes to sell. Again, photos and description are key, as is a reasonable price. Obviously the better the price the quicker the sale. I don't really rate Gumtree, I've advertised a lot on there and rarely ever made a sale, however without fail I always get at least 3 messages from obvious scammers. On commission at The Bass Gallery or Bass Direct is an option, their commission is between 15% and 20%, you will need to physically hand over your bass though, and there is no guarantee it'll sell quickly so you may be without your bass for a while. Selling it to a store, be it GuitarGuitar or Cash Converters, will get you a quick sale but it'll be a low ball price - depends what you want to get. Reverb is good, I've recently sold two USA PRS and a few pedals via Reverb, there is a selling fee (6% or 7% I think), cheaper than eBay and quite secure. It's free to advertise and you only pay the fee once you've sold. This might be a good option. That's my two cents! My advice, advertise on Basschat, Reverb and Gumtree at the same time, if you get no bites maybe talk to the guys at The Bass Gallery or Bass Direct. Or if you're happy to roll the dice and let the market decide the value, stick it on eBay with 12 good photos, a lengthy description AND OFFER POSTAGE!!! Without postage on any platform, you are EXTREMELY limited to who can buy your bass. Good luck!"

Evening Gentlefolk, May we discuss our straps? I've been on a mini-mission to obtain the perfect strap... from my experience over the past few months, I have concluded that straps are wholly underrated items. I haven't used a 'seat belt' type strap in many a year, but have used many different straps that we could class as 'above average' over the last 6 months in a mission to obtain the perfect strap. By far and away, the best strap I own at this moment is an ACG strap, UK made, leather on top, suede on the underside and nicely padded. All in 9/10. Only deducting 1 point as they are rather pricey, but to be honest, it's worth it. The build is impeccable and the suede underside is excellent at preventing slippage. I've also taken delivery of 2 Richter straps recently, the solid leather and Vegan leather 4.5 inch straps. Both more than good, but the lack of padding is a bit puzzling - for the price point they should have more padding. At £75 full price, I'd opt for the ACG instead. Mono-straps, neostraps and comfort strapps are all actually very good indeed and all come in sub £40, I've got 4 of these and have no gripes. What straps do you have and recommend? Keen to understand what the pinnacle of strapology is these days!

Gear4music are the cheapest for a AI upgrade to Pro. Already looked at these options a while back! I spoke to a really decent chap at Gear4music and he said AI shouldn't have any limitations on the processing of heavy CPU plug-ins, so if I get this issue on AI it's very much likely I'll get the same issues with Pro. I need to experiment with the buffer size and see how that impacts the amount of tracks I can live run the Helix plug-in on.

My 1979 Roadster - it lives a simple life these days, mainly kept for sentimental reasons. Twas my first 'proper' bass that I sold and bought back 3 times! It's now going to live out its days with me and shall never be sold again.

Excellent choice on going for an ACG. The smoothness of the finish always amazes me! Such a pleasure to play. You're in for a treat sir!

Hi all, Having a big clear out. This bag has somewhere around 150 bass strings in it, all used to various degrees. About 3kg in total. The gauges vary from .200 to .009. Lengths are mostly cut for 34/35" scale 6 string basses with 3 tuners aside with an average amount of winding. Strings are a mix of Conklin, Newtone, Kalium, Rotosound and a few other brands. £35 posted or £30 collected. Cheers, Russ.

Hi all, I was given the below as a gift however I already have the EXACT same pizza cutter and I have a good 5 or 6 large wooden chopping boards so have no use for this one! Also, a little 3D 'acoustic guitar' shaped lamp thing with a remote control to turn it on/change colour... £18 for the lot with postage included or £15 collected. Everything is brand new and 100% unused! Ta, Russ.
