Being honest, what I listen to mostly is quite specific, but that's because I've honed down what I REALLY enjoy listening to over the years and have found a niche I love. That's not at all to say I'm closed to other genres, but I know what really floats my boat and I like exploring that sphere at the moment. Time will likely change that!

Bought a Ibanez case from Julian, super smooth transaction! Met him at a practice room down the road from me, had a chat, parted ways! Can't fault him. Another credit to Basschat!

Also incorrect, Fact: 6 string bass players have 10 hands, each with 1 finger. 6 hands on the left of the body and 4 on the right. No thumbs. Left handed 6 string bass players are a figment of our collective imagination and do not actually exist. Artists rendering:

Opinion is Opinion, fact is fact, by my reckoning @TheLowDown has stated opinion and not tried to push it as fact, so it's valid as their opinion even if I personally don't agree. Now let's all just agree that all 6 string bass players are incredibly handsome and excellent at all things in life and all 4 string players are terrible terrible people, surely that's a fact we can all agree on! 😜

I've also owned 6, possibly 7 of those basses in @Hellzeros post! That 'Fodera 6' was a nice bass though the body edges were so angled and sharp it was incredibly uncomfortable to play.

Another vote for GuitarGuitar, they've recently shown some excellent customer service with an issue I had. Very quick to respond too and didn't hide behind the absolute letter of their warranty policy, they reviewed the issue for what it was and handled it expertly. I've dealt with them in the past a few times and I've always been very pleasantly surprised by their level of customer service.

Apologies gentlemen, but I can beat that too! I flew to San Francisco on a Friday evening, picked up a bass (a 9 string Pac Man Conklin form Jean Baudin) and flew back on Monday morning. On the Wednesday of that week I did a 1100 mile total round trip to collect a Mesa M-Pulse and Powerhouse cab as well as dropping off 4 of my eBay sales on route! My average speed for every hour of that time frame was in excess of 100mph and I clocked just over 12,000 miles total! Beat that! 😜 I've also taken a bus to Belgium to meet @Hellzero and flew to Croatia to meet @basscell ironically for the exact same bass!!

And, may I submit my 13 string bass as a contender for the most stringiest bass in standard bass tunings. (Sold as the fanning made it utterly unplayable!)

Sorry sir, but I have you beat by one on this particular game! 1979 Ibanez Roadster bought buy me. Then sold, and bought back. Then sold and bought back. Then sold and bought back. Two of the sales/re-purchases were basschat folk too! The bass will now remain with me until death, whenever that might be!

That sir is an assumption! I am currently trapped in bed with a sock on my hand and my fear in my eyes.

I think the lesson here is that if you play 4 string bass you're some kind of awesome bass hero that can slay dragons while simultaneously slap-tapping every song ever written at the same time while effortlessly curing all of the world's ailments and feeding every orphan in existence, but if you play 6 string bass you are the reincarnation of Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin and Wario all wrapped up into one bastardish package. And no, I have literally never exaggerated anything in my life ever!

Can't we just play whatever instrument we want to play without fear of being shot down because 'we haven't mastered the 4 string so should own a 6 string'. Can everyone stop sapping the fun out of music!!! Music is art, art is subjective ergo music is subjective and can darn well be whatever the individual wants it to be! Humbug, humbug to all!!! Yes, even YOU!
