  1. What does that even mean anyway? How can you play butter? And if you tried, you'd be a greasy mess! And what about vegans??? Can they play your greasy, melting, calorific bass?? If anything a bass could be described as playing like cheese, but butter? That just makes no sense! If your bass plays like overchurned cow squeezings, you probably have a duff instrument!
  2. Put your bed on the lawn then take a photo of the bass on it. Just to píss off maximum people!
  3. Pink keyboards and sunglasses, but only in combination, separately is fine.
  4. Make it a 6 string and I'm all over it!
  5. @Maude, you sure do have some strong (and wrong!) opinions! 😂 I jest, of course! All very much each to their own with all these things. The ergonomic carve, if done properly, is deeper than a top wood would cover. It would need to be an extremely thick piece of top wood for that to work, then the side profile would look odd as the top wood would be super thin over the cutout and ultra thick over the rest of the body. That design is a bit of a compromise to ergonomics, for me I like the contrast, but even if I didn't, having played my custom ACG with a deep ergonomic cutout, the function far outweighs the aesthetics. But, it's all very personal! No rights or wrongs etc.
  6. I don't know what you're talking about...
  7. If anyone is in the market, Andertons have a couple of brand new Rebop DLX basses for a good chunk off...
  8. @P-Belly Evans, I see you've undergone the Michael Jackson rib removal surgery...
  9. I've seen your stiff one... I did not approve. Albeit from the top of a ladder peering into your bedroom window.
  10. I like a nice big stiff one. Happy now @barkin?? 😜 Dunlop Tortex Blue 1mm for bass. Dunlop Tortex Red 0.5mm for guitar.
  11. But we want them NOW Ped!!! NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!! 😫
  12. Only if you feel comfortable doing so. I'd be happy to share any useful contacts if I have them.
  13. I've just read all of this and at every turn you seem to have a reason not to take well established routes to success suggested by others who've been down the same route. I have twice been in this position and twice found success is relentlessly chasing the company in question (ParcelForce in my scenario), usually directly emailing the CEO or board of directors until they either make the effort to locate the item or they simply concede and offer compensation. There is obviously more to the situation, we'd all be curious to know the facts, some of us might genuinely be able to assist if the facts are known, especially with CEO contacts for many courier companies.
  14. Perfectly reasonable cabs these. Modelled after the Eden XLT 410 I believe.
  15. I've had a number of variations of these over the years and they are very good basses for the money and can easily stand up to others of a much higher price tag. Good choice sir!
  16. This is it. To get the best results you need to trust your chosen luthier. BUT they also need to build what you're paying for, I asked for a 'back wood' and was told this would be mostly pointless as it'll never be seen, I still wanted it and as such it was added to the build. You do need to go in armed with a good idea of what you want, the woods you want, the feel you want etc. A truly good luthier will use your list of wants and blend it as best as can be done with their experience and advise you along the way. At the end of the day if you insist on something the luthier tells you will be detrimental to the build, then thats your fault for insisting against all advice! I love my ACG and Binky, they are EXACTLY what I wanted and the wait was well worth it! If you take the common sense approach, and go with a trusted luthier, you'll get a good result.
  17. I spoke to Leduc, he told me he hates you. 😜 (P.S. it was me that stole your bass, and yes a Delorean was involved...)
  18. @Matt P, wouldn't of been me sir! I didn't abandon any of my builds with Jon, it took the threat of legal action to get him to provide what was contractually agreed, but eventually he provided. Albeit with shoddy craftsmanship and terrible homemade pickups. If you got a playable instrument out of him you should absolutely count yourself lucky because A: you actually got an instrument and B: it's playable. I don't count his firewood as being part of my short list of instruments I've had made for me.
  19. I've had two custom basses made, one being Binky the 10 string, made by Bee Basses out in the States and one being made by ACG. Both basses started in my head as one thing, then with guidance from the luithers as to what, from their experience of building, will yield the best results, ended as another. Both builds involved extensive communication with the builder, regular photo updates and confirmations of me being happy with various woods etc before anything was cut as well as them trying as best they could to create the bass as the instrument I had in mind based on the conversation had prior to build. For me, both basses turned out absolutely beautifully and will never be sold on. Maybe I'm lucky, but I do think that with you asking the right questions, and a luthier capable of understanding your questions and taking you through each build stage, you are likely to end up with the bass you want. If you give a luthier free reign, then there's little point going custom as it won't be made to your exact wants.
  20. I had a pearl white one of these way back in the day! It was 'payment' for 2 weeks work experience I did at a little music shop in South Woodham Ferrers. When set up correctly they are very good basses for the money.
  21. Hi all, We're VERY close to being in a position to buy our dream home, we have an offer accepted and are now in a last mad dash to raise the final boost of funds needed to make this happen. As such, I no longer need to sell the full Mesa rig, but really could do with liquidating one of the cabs... So here we go... The cab is literally brand new, bought by me around 4 months ago, never left the house since coming out of the box, played for maybe 4 or 5 hours total at home, totally unmarked and EXACTLY as it left the factory in California. 100% mint condition. It is a beast of a cab, 600w at 8 ohms, the construction is impeccable, the tone is utterly beautiful, it is the best cab I've owned bar none and I have owned many of the big names! The retail on these was a little north of £1200, I'm looking to recover £650. It will come with the Mesa Boogie track-loc castors as well as a brand new Mesa Boogie padded cover. It weighs 40kg and the dimensions are: Height - 25". Width - 24". Depth - 19" Collect from Basildon, Essex or you can arrange a courier and I'll do my very best to wrap it up for you. Any questions, please ask! Russ.
