1. Hey! The handle is made out of rosewood, the machine head is mounted as you would expect it to and the lates are pretty much self explanitory (sp?). Hopefully this pic will make it clearer. I have put a stop to prevent the lever going over the top. This is just above the plate in the pic. Its nothing special but it does work. Thanks for the interest and comments! Dan
2. Haha!!! Mint, I have put this through a distortion pedal and youre right, its nuts. Ive had it through a bassballs and EHX chorus and sounds nuts through those! As I said before, our rapper loves it and wants it on some grime tracks. Thanks for the comment. Dan
3. Claypool has one so thought why not? Its abit of fun and our rapper loves it! It will be played in some of our grim tracks hopefully. This started off as a 4 string I made in college, and it was modified to this item of insanity! Swamp ash body, maple neck and ebony fingerbourd. 1 half of a precision pup with 1 tone and 1 volume pot. Dan
4. Check out Soul Technique. A band from Newcastle releasing thier debut EP this Saturday. They play live funk/soul/hip hop, all original material. Their stuff can be heard on www.myspace.com/soultechniqueofficial. I agree, there should be more funk bands out there. However, this country centres around safe, marketable repetitive indie as it sells. A sad case of affairs but it seems to be true. Dan
5. This Saturday 13th March, Soul Technique are launching their debut EP at World Headquarters in Newcastle. Chunky bass driven funk Hip hop! With support from Purple Shards and a DJ set from Tim Shaw. £4 in before 11pm with a free EP! www.myspace.com/soultechniqueofficial A cracking energetic live act not to be missed!
6. Hello everyone! I have 1 Les Claypool ticket for the Koko venue in Camden, London. Im not gonna ask over the odds for it, im not an arse. All I want is the ticket price plus the booking fee I paid, so £20. The date for this is Monday 8th March and is the only UK date hes doing! First to PM me will get!!! Dan
7. Ive only scan read this so forgive me if its been covered! As a few people have said, we have all been there! If its her first gig then she will need some patience from everyone. How ever inexperience will be her down fall. Head of Steam in Newcastle has an extremely strict NO UNDER 18's policy, any one under 18 will be removed and barred, this includes bands. Pubs/bars cant afford to lose licenses and to say 'sneak in the back door' is rather irresponsible. Ive refused gigs like this and our band has had problems with sharing gear because when we play there is about £10k in instruments on stage with us. I try not to share my rig because if it gets damaged, they have to pay for it and its alot of doh ray me. If the organisation isnt there or the promoter asked us to do more than asked for we say stick it or we do what were asked to to; Play a live set. Your asked to do that and thats all. If the night is a failure its the promoters fault. Dan
8. Sweet mother of... If I had the money! Good luck with the sale. Dan
9. Damn it!!! Im working 1-5!!! Dan : (
10. Thanks for putting pics up, that is a stunning bass!!! Have any idea of the value of it? Dan P.S Dont sell it!
11.
....or useless. I was considering getting one of these, but I don't know if there is any room for my Aggie head to' breathe' . So, should I get one,or leave it??
Is it the plywood rack mount one? If it is, it should let the head 'breath' as you put it. I suppose they wouldnt make them if they were'nt suitable. Plus, theyre really protective! You cant go wrong with it! I have the padded case which is excllent, obviously you cant leave it in the case when using it but it does the job well to transport it. Hope this helps. Dan
12. Wether you sell it or keep it (the latter!), please post some pics!! I think I speak for every one here when I say Id love to see it! Dan
13. Fantastic heads these, I ran one for a couple of years before upgrading to Aguilar. Sounds very good, versatile, robust and a bargain to whoever gets it at £135! Good luck with the sale! Dan
14. I have a Fretless Basic, it sounds amazing, really nice low bottom end. And i mean low! The neck plays really fast and its pretty light to. Got mine off a BC'er and have absolutly loved it. Well worth at least a really good look into, if not, just buy one! Dan
15. This topic clearly winds some people up something rotten! I have mixed feelings on Flea. Him and Zender are the reasons I got into bass playing, Flea is most certainly an influencial bass player and as Ive improved as a musician and become more knowledgable as a person, I have realised Flea is not that good. Bottom Feed said it right with 'one trick pony'. His slap style isnt particularly great and his patterns are repetitive. But! He has raised the profile of the bass player and become such an influence on youngsters getting into music. He can't however, be compared to Wooten, or Claypool as they are completely different bass players. Ultimately, each to their own. I personnaly dont rate Flea at all, but he is the reason I got into bass playing and I do recommend him to younger players, Especially if it keeps them playing! Claypool for President! Dan
16. Cool beans! That makes a bit more sense of what I can do. Though I dont think I made myself clear enough. I only need one part of the pick up so i was planning to cut the joining wire and only have one part of the pick, be it the one with either colour wire and use that. But if the pick up has a positive and negative wire, surely it needs both in order to work? I may aswell spill the beans, Im wanting to make a whamola bass and so only need a pick up for one string and was going to mount the one half of a P pup length ways under the string. Dan
17. I have a p bass pick up and im curious to know if they can be seperated as I only need one half of the whole thing. The pick up has a red wire from one bit of the pup, a blue from the other and a black joining the 2 together. Im tempted to cut the black one and elecy tape the end but I dont want to nack them. Please dont ask for details!! Its a wierd little project I have which may not work. Cheers for any thoughts. Dan
18. Bought an Aguilar Padded Case from him, it turned up when he said it would well packaged. A cracking bloke to deal with and will be sure to keep an eye out for any other items from him in future! Cheers Jason! Dan
19. Heres my contribution, with a scratch plate mod to. From 2001.
20. I have for sale, a Sony Mini Disc desk in good condition. Itll do the whole recording business and it comes with a digital sync cable and remote. Ill even throw in a bag of about 60 mini discs. P+P will be about £8/10 but im open to sensible offers on the desk and discs.
21. Fretbourd LED's, I think its possibly the most attention seeking thing a bass player can do! Rick's, dont like them, cant see the appeal. Fenders, I absolutly hate these things. Ive never played a Fender that feels nice to play, they sound ok but just feel horrible. Ill agree with the point from the off, Ashdown. Ive never been able to get a usuable sound out of them! Dont hate me for voicing these! Dan
22. Ive got the AG 500 SC, same size and all. I tried to rack mount mine and couldnt get the handle off so i thought sod it, left them on and im getting the padded case for it instead. Mine did come with the ears and bolts. Its a standard size bolt, 4 or 5 mm so you should be able to get them from B&Q or some where like that. Great head to. Dan
23.
nice nice nice! That rosewood pickguard looks great, as does the rest of your rig! you have fantastic taste!
Thank you very much!! The scratch plate was worth every penny of £45!!!! Though my band are sick of me mentioning it to them!! Dan
