1.
I don't own a Geddy, so feel free to ignore what I am about to say! I have just purchased a set of DR Lo-riders, expecting (in all honesty) to be disappointed. Nothing of the sort! They make even my Squier P bass come to life in a way that I wouldn't have dared imagine... Zingy - yes. I expected zing. I love zing. But the deep richness of tone was something I have never experienced in all my years of using Rotosound, D'addario and Elites.

They are quite pricey admittedly, but they last and last if I am to believe what I read.

    Give them a try!
Hi Conan

    How are you mate?

Thanks for your suggestion. I have DR low riders on my precision and I agree they sound great.
I am a big LaBella fan so I have just ordered a set of Hard Rockin Steels for it. :)

Fancy coming back for the Ashdown 8x10 :)

    All the best

Thought I would chip in too :)

I am the proud owner of a sunburst GL Jazz which I have owned for over a year. I have swapped the black pickguard for a tort one and replaced the stock pups with Fender Custom shop pups which sound even better.

At the mo I have got D'Addario Chromes on and to be honest I dont really like them.

Any recommendations from any Geddy owners on their preferred string for this bass. I am thinking about a set of rounds or nickel rounds.

    Will have pics soon.

    Thanks

    Deak

The big spider light rig was scary! Geddy's sound was immense. Anyone else think it could have been louder overall? I'm sure they turned it up after break number one. What an encore. wow.
Aye I thought Geddys bass sounded louder in the second half (bring it on :) ).

I thought the sound was fab. How awesom was Alex and Neil too.

    Camera eye was great :)

    Fab night

    Hi Guys

Who seen Rush in Glasgow last night? What a fantastic concert. I thought Geddys sound was absolutley amazing. The whole thing was just a joy to watch and a pleasure to listen to.

A real inspiration and truly a great bunch of musicians.

  5. Hi all

I recently bought a VT bass pedal which Iam loving. I have a question tho.

I have been running the pedal through a Tecamp 1x12 puma combo with the EQ set flat. Is that generally the way to use the pedal or is it better to use the EQ settings on the combo aswell??

Also what are your favourite settings? I have been looking for a Geddy Lee type sound.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  6. Hi all

Just looking for a quick bit of advice.

Iam gonna change the pickguard on my Geddy Lee Jazz and just wondered if its just a simple case of taking the screws out and screwing the new one or is it not that easy?

I have never done this before and thought better be safe than sorry. Especially cause I love my GL :)

    Thnaks to all

  7. Hi all

I have a brand new Ashdown MAG 8X10 cab up for sale that has never been used. I got it with the intention of taking it to some gigs I had lined up but they never happened so its just sitting there doing nowt.

Its in mint condition. Iam looking for £250 for it. I no longer have an amp with it so if you wanted to come and hear how it sounds you would need to bring one with you.

    Its collection only.

I have no pics at the moment so have a look at the link below to get an idea on what it looks like.

As I mentioned I am more than happy for anyone to come and have a listen to it provided they bring an amp :)

    Many Thanks

    Stuart

  8. Definately G&L.

The tributes are amazing. The build is amazing and you cant beat those MFD pickups.

If you can afford it I would go for a USA G&L ASAT bass. Sturdy, versatile and incredible quality. Stick a set of TI flats on it and its perfection IMHO :)

  9. Hi all

Just looking for some advice. I have just ordered a set of Rotosound Steve Harris signature flatwounds and I am intending to put them on a Fender American Deluxe Precision (the older model with the humbucker).

Due to the heavier guage has anyone had problems with them fitting into the nut. Sorry if this is a daft question but this is the first time I have tried strings that are heavier than my usual 45-105.

    Cheers in advance

    Stuart
