How is the HS? I have never played one. I am curious as DV247 have one in stock, also in black (not stealth) for £1,692. Sounds like a very tempting price, especially considering the "new normal" prices. It says "Showroom model/B-stock with replacement neck installed by distributor and scratches on pickguard".

To be honest, I played it mostly on just the bridge pickup. They’re awesome basses though. The preamp is so hot, small adjustments make big changes

The normal new price of say, a Musicman Classic Sabre at this time was circa £2k so I would expect a Bongo to be similar, unless very very NOS on clearance reduction.

The 4 string Bongo in the stealth finish was averaging at around £1850 at most retailers. I trawled the internet for days. Even to the point of speaking with Beaver Felton in the US about the possibility of giving him a holding deposit so that a friend could collect it for me while on holiday the following month. Then I came across an ad for a shop in the Netherlands who had some Bongos on their website, but not a Stealth. I emailed and asked by any chance did they have a Stealth 4 string in stock, and got a swift reply saying they only had one and it was a 4HS. I asked the price, including shipping, taxes etc and it was £1250 for the bass plus shipping. He got me a fixed quote and it came in at around £1285 all in. I ordered it on the Tuesday and and it was on my doorstep by Thursday morning

They’ve not been that price new since the 2000s - that’s 20 yrs ago 😀!! Seems amazing, I know. I bought a new SR5 in 2003 for £1295 - at the same time I was considering an immaculate Inca silver 77 pre Ernie Ball at the Bass Centre - previously owned by a famous musician - it was £1700.

However a good portion of the price hike on new instruments has been since the world has gone a bit mad, over the last couple of years.

    I bought it in 2014!

Yeah agree - maybe we’ll see an LE one sometime - unfortunately at an eye watering price I guess 😂

No doubt! Looking at prices now, it’s staggering that I paid about £1250 for my 4HS Stealth brand new!

Great, post it up when you finished.
I have a few pedals on a Metro20 with the CS6 mounted underneath, and I’d be well interested in adding the Boss WL-50.  Be good to get your feedback.

I’ve got a rehearsal Wednesday and a gig Friday so I’ll report back 👍

Nice set up.  Is the Boss WL-50 pretty good, and can you supply it from the CS6?

I haven’t tried it yet, I only got it on friday. I read a lot of reviews that spoke highly of it though.  The CS6 should run it easily enough, it only draws 60mA while in use. It draws 320mA while charging, but the transmitter should last a gig without needing charge

  7. What an epic story! So pleased for you @AndyTravis! Seems crazy to think that I paid £1250 for my 4HS Stealth brand new! They were quite vilified back then, due to the looks. Glad more people have realised what a beast of a bass they are. I certainly wish I still had mine

  8. Just bought a Darkglass pedal from Ian. Really smooth transaction. Great communication throughout. Pedal arrived less than 48hrs after he posted it, and superbly packed. Very highly recommended

take always 2 basses on every gig ....

That wouldn’t be much of an issue for me, but for a working bassist doing gigs around London, very often public transport is the most efficient way to travel. So for someone in that situation, that would mean carting a second bass around on the tube with them. I know it’s all ifs and buts, and I haven’t broken a string for years, but it’s still a possibility. If I was one of those players, that would certainly play a huge part in me deciding against fitting this particular bridge, but I wish you luck in your ventures!

    Probably quite a few.

I bought my ABM 500 III for £134 off Ebay. I'm sure there's many more for sale, at a similarly criminally low price.

Agreed. I put my mk1 ABM500 Evo Rc on here   a couple of years back for £125 including a gator 4u rack case, and never got any interest in it. They’re cheap as chips if you hunt around

  11. Just stumbled across this old pic. I used to use this for pub gigs, humping that 810 in and out the back of my Vectra hatchback. I gave that cab away to someone on here, Bartleby I think it was. The awful Behringer unit is long gone, but I still have the ABM, it lives at our rehearsal space for times when I can’t be bothered to take my EBS TD650 to rehearsal.
