2. Great review Mark! I have the exact same bass, they play/look/sound so good that you sometimes have to remind yourself that this is a bass that costs less than £300!! These are aimed at getting kids into playing musical instruments but, considering what you get for your money, I can see a lot of experienced players adding one to their arsenal.
3. These are great little amps. I had mine for sale, as it was just being kept as a backup for my Shuttle 9.2. Used it for a couple of gigs with my new Sire MM V7 bass and was so impressed I promptly withdrew it and have been using it again ever since! GLWTS!
4. I gigged mine for the first time saturday, very impressed! That review is pretty accurate. Admittedly I did switch to my Warwick for the second half of saturdays gig, but it has been my go to bass for a long time and some habits are just hard to break! The Sire will definitely be staying with me, that's for sure!
5. Did a cancer charity gig at a local social club. Had a great night, packed house, great crowd and the organiser had arranged a PA for us which turned out to be an absolute corker of a rig! Used my new Sire V7 for the first set and was very impressed, it's definitely a keeper, but switched to my Warwick for the second set and, no matter how many basses I buy, putting that bass on just feels like putting your favourite pair of shoes or jeans on, it just feels so right. Also used my RH750 instead of the Shuttle 9.2 last night, and it sounded great, actually really glad it didn't sell! Maybe having a couple of really nice amps isn't overkill after all and I'll keep them both!
6.
Now be quiet and check out some real bass playing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A82RlqBOpB8
That sounds great!
7. I can carry my Big Twin 2 with one hand if I have to. It's got wheels and a top handle for ease of movement too. You'd be surprised how portable the BT2 is for one of Barefaced's larger cabs.
8.
There's a Barefaced Big Twin 2 in the classifieds. With your PRO 7 the band wouldn't notice you changed cabs.
+1 I own one and they are superb. My last two cab set-ups have been Ashdown 8x10 followed by Warwick WCA115 paired with either a WCA411 or 211. No looking back from me, unless someone would provide me with a Mesa Powerhouse cab and transport it for me! There's some excellent 2x12 cabs on the market now, go try some out and see what suits you best. They are plenty powerful enough for most gigs. Barefaced seem to split opinions on here, I actually like the way mine looks and being a Gen3 it seems well built, Having said that I do love the classy look of the Bergantino CN212.
9. Apparently mine should be here today! It would be the day that my Shuttle and cab are at the rehearsal room and my RH750 is boxed up ready for sale! Headphones into the bass pod will have to do for today then!
10. Fairly sure you can pick up a Korg Pitchblack new for about £70 now. I had a Korg DTR2000 which was excellent, the pitchblack replaced that.
11.
Seeing as I already had a white jazz bass I knew exactly what to expect, and I wasn't dissapointed. The V7 is white, not one of those smoke sainted yellow whites. It's still very, very slightly warmer than my Squier, although I don't think the pic i posted last week really shows that. Both are whiter than the Fender MIA white I had. It's a good choice to go for. Although my Squier has a maple fretboard on it at the moment I don't really like inlays on maple, so went for the rosewood. Gotta say it's a lovely combination.
The wait is killing me! Hope I like it, seeing as I've never played a jazz bass!! 😯
12.
Some of you guys are taking PC to the extreme, the OP always posts threads about Bands/Songs he loves and they are vary varied, give him a break. Surely if anyone wanted to seek a something sexual, and low quality image of someone playing bass is not the place to start. Im a big Huw fan BTW.
I would agree with this, bubinga5 always posts up some excellent tunes, stuff that he feels passionate about.
13. Huw is such a great player. He always really nails the groove and not just the notes.
14.
I'm close now. White or sunburst?
I was all set, it was just down to natural or sunburst, so after much consideration I ordered the antique white! To be fair I had been looking at Olympic white Squier jazzes so it wasn't a complete shock! 😀
15. Relaxing Sunday morning bump for a cheap immaculate P bass!
16.
£7k!!! That would buy......
A stunning custom shop Warwick?!
17.
A genuine Sterling or stingray pick guard is about £18 from strings and things, get a spare and fit/make a cheap thumb rest to the spare guard and keep the stock one safe. $40 for that Ebay gadget?!
+1 I read a thread on the EBMM forum where someone was finding the same problem with a Bongo 4H, he bought a cheap spare pickguard and a thumb rest, used blu-tack to experiment with positioning of the thumb and then fixed it on once he'd decided on the best position for it.
18. Can't wait for my antique white V7 to arrive! 😀
19. I really like it, I just fancied a change and much like yourself wasn't using many of the features. If for any reason I had to sell my Shuttle 9.2 and go back to this I'd have no qualms about it, I never had any issues with it at all. I had the 450 before and this is a completely different sounding beast.
