Had a pretty good one at a local social club last night. We've played there lots of times but normally in the function room. Last night they wanted us in the main bar, as we'd agreed to time our sets around the boxing. The 'stage' is a long, narrow area which is deeper at one end, so we had to play in a line with drummer on the end as that's the only part deep enough for the kit, which felt really odd! Good crowd though, was a bit concerned some of the younger ones might get a bit too rowdy after the fight but all was fine, good atmosphere. Highlight for me the 60yr old bloke who shouted "f***ing brilliant" at the top of his voice after every number of the second set! Really starting to get used to the feel of the Bongo now too, and got a drunken compliment about it last night "ere mate, that black guitar is cool as f**k"!

They are fantastic basses. I usually have the pickup blend on my HS biased about 60/40 to the bridge, bass slightly cut, slight mid boost, amp flat and bang, tonal heaven. I know the looks really put some people off but to play they are superb, the pups and that 4 band eq make them very versatile. Been using mine through a RH750 and Big Twin 2, sounds great but am hopefully gonna do some gigs/rehearsals with a mates GK MB Fusion next month while he's away and I think that could be a epic combination! If funds permitted I'd be ordering one of the PDN Neptune blue/maple ones without hesitation, I'm sold on Bongo basses now!

I found it a little too busy. The problem for me is that Nathan East's original line sits perfectly within the song and yet is so simple, so when you hear it being overplayed it sounds fiddly. Having watched some of his other vids, this guy is a very good player and he's only goofing around so as long as he's enjoying himself, good for him.

Sansamp programmable BDDI? Gives you the ability to save 3 different tones in one pedal. Best overdrive tone I've ever used was from a Darkglass B3K. It wasn't mine, I borrowed it for a few rehearsals just to try one out. But I came to the conclusion that as I'd sold my sansamp as I wasn't really using it, there wasn't much point buying a B3K, but it was an awesome drive tone.

Signed. As a Bristolian, the Fleece is iconic, played there many times over the years. When I first started playing, the fleece and bierkeller were the two places all my young musician mates were desperate to play.
Seen a fair few tributes, the best being Bjorn Again, The Jamm & The Likeness. To date, not seen a bad tribute band, which is nice.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about The Jamm, saw them a few years back at The Fleece and they were very good.
I saw an AC/DC tribute called AB/CD a few months back. They were quite good.
A good friend of mine was the 'Angus' in an AC/DC tribute band here in Bristol. They did some huge gigs all over Britain and Europe so there must be a good market for it. Best tribute act I've seen was an American 3 piece doing a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute, if you closed your eyes you'd swear it was SRV himself, both his voice and his guitar playing/tone.
Sorry. I couldn't help myself...
The poor OP must be wondering what the hell he's started! If only he knew the outcome of the thread would be so predictable! :-)

Here we go again!!

Ah, I didn't realise they were ltd ed. I just saw a few MM's in that finish on bass Central's website when I was searching. Must admit I'm tempted to see if they've got any cool finish Stingrays in stock when I head to the states later in the year!

What is the collective noun for bass players?
ern500evo replied to Danj's topic in General Discussion
Nige's suggestion in the last thread wins it for me: A twat of old bastards! Which would also make a great name for a blues band! -
Ay, and Promenade Music offer great new prices on them. The standard black ones and sapphire black are much more common in the UK, but thing like Sky Blue and Tangerine Pearl...well, there are barely any. One of the best pre-amps I've ever played...in fact one of the best bass designs I've ever played.
I was looking at Bass Central's website before I ordered mine, they had some amazing Tangerine pearl ones, I also like that Dargie's Delight green they do. About as far from my Stealth black as you could get but really cool colours!

I guess one option would be to buy a used one and have it refinished, at least that way all you're restricted by when searching, is the pup config. Trouble is with Bongo basses, as I found out, used ones don't seem to appear very often. As for the pricing debate, when I was searching for my 4HS Stealth, the cheapest I could find anywhere in the UK was approx £1600 and would have had to wait for it to be built. Other option was Thomann who had one in stock at £1650, I spent what felt like days trawling through MM's euro dealer websites, but eventually got one for £1100 incl delivery from Holland. Ordered tuesday at 3pm, on my doorstep by 8am thursday! So they can be got cheaper, it just takes a bit of searching.

Forget the wattage issue, if the 450 is loud enough for you does it make any difference if it's 450w or 236w? I've had a RH450 and I now use a RH750, I changed because I sometimes want a clanky sound with some real top end sizzle, and as I don't really use a pick the 750 gets that sound easier, I also got it for a great price which helped! I'd say just bear with it and let YOUR ears decide. BC is an amazing place to get advice from some incredibly knowledgable people, but ultimately you have to decide if you like what you hear from it. As an example, look at how many people around here hate Ashdown amps stating they're unreliable and lacking oomph, I've got an original ABM500evo RC which has only ever been serviced once yet has never ever let me down, and I've never had a volume issue with it, no matter what setting or band situation I've used it in.

I have virtually no 5 string experience, but the guy I bought my RH450 from had a SR1205 and I played it to test the amp. It played beautifully, really good quality feel to it. Granted I only played it at house volume but it sounded lovely, the low B was killer. I ended up asking more questions about the bass than about the amp I was buying!

Just sold my RH450 to Mike, great guy to deal with. Instant payment and good communication, would highly recommend.
