This is what I was sent by one of the guys there, August 2009.
Yep, just had email from them to confirm that they can't accept an order for a new Musicman bass from outside the US. But there may be a way around it yet!
-
I wasn't even aware that the Bass Centre were Musicman dealers.
-
I purchased my EB Bongo three years ago from The Bass Centre, had no problems with the order, in fact I could have chosen any bass/finish in the Bongo range, there was slightly longer wait time if it wasn't in stock but otherwise no issues.
The bass centre here in the UK or Bass Central in the US?
Ahh, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Which one are you looking at? They may have changed their policy or make an exception.
It's a Bongo Stealth. The only other place I can find the exact one I want is Thomann, and even allowing $300 for shipping and 25-30% of the total for taxes etc the BC price still works out well over £300 cheaper. Oh bugger!!
I bought a Stingray 5 from them about 4 years ago. Musicman don't allow them to ship outside of the USA so had it shipped to my friend in California who I was visiting a few weeks later and took it home on the plane. They got it to him really quickly and saved on State tax. The exchange rate for the dollar is pretty good at the moment too.
Make that, this WAS looking very promising, it's a Musicman bass I'm looking at!

This is all sounding very positive (well maybe not for my wallet), looks like I better get some pics of the Streamer done, ready for it's impending departure. Must keep telling myself "if you buy the new one, the Streamer has to go"!
-
Did the delivery process go smoothly? How long did it take?
-
We were looking at going in September but ended up deciding on NY at xmas instead, my wallet definitely won't stretch to two USA trips and a £1500 bass this year!! Planning on going next year but I definitely can't wait that long, the GAS is already nearing epidemic levels!
I have and they are great! The main guy is Beaver Felton - he was an excellent player and responsible for an influential series of instructional series of videos call Superchops. Unfortunately he was involved in a car accident and paralysed from the waist down many years ago. They don't always update their website when gear is sold so be sure to check what's in stock. Shipping will be between $125 and $250 and duties us Vat should be about 23% of the total including shipping.
Superchops for bass! Thanks Barrie, I've emailed them to check that the bass is still in stock and for an exact shipping quote. So I'll see what they come back with and have a think, I don't normally buy brand new basses if I can help it but as I'm getting zero joy in the used market this might be the only option. As I said I can get it from Thomann but it's almost £400 more.

Was just wondering if anyone here has ever bought a bass and had it shipped over from Bass Central in Florida? I'm GAS'ing for something badly, and as they hardly ever come up used, I think I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Allowing for exchange rate, shipping and 25-30% of the total for customs/import taxes, the bass is still coming out at almost £400 less than buying it from Thomann. So, anyone dealt with these chaps before? Lee

Sansamp programmable bass driver/DI pedal for sale. Some great tones from this pedal, but since changing to a TC RH head with the memory settings i'm just not using it as much as i did. It is in fantastic condition, you would honestly struggle to spot any difference between this and a brand new one. It's still in it's original plastic bag inside the original box, and still has the booklet of suggested settings with it, which also has some blank templates in the back for you to write your own personal favourite settings in. The box has some signs of wear on the edges but is still perfectly intact. I'm in Bristol if you wish to come and try it out and collect it, or i can post it. Not looking for any trades on this, the one and only thing im looking for at the moment is a Musicman Bongo 4HS Stealth. I'm having trouble uploading pics at the moment but if you PM your email address i can send them direct to you. Thanks for looking Lee

Here i have my TC Electronic RH450. It's a great little head and in excellent condition. Always been kept in it's TC carry bag. 3 user memory settings, on board compressor and built in tuner. The tech spec sheet can be found here: http://www.tcelectro...450/tech-specs/ I'd prefer collection in person so that you can check it over/have a play through it (I've got a Warwick streamer, a Spector NS2000 and a Barefaced Big Twin 2 here that you can run it with, or you are of course welcome to bring your own bass and cab if you'd prefer). I'm also prepared to travel 75 miles from Bristol to meet up and do the deal in person. However if posting is the only feasible option i will send it, would just need to sort out some packing materials. It comes with the TC carry bag, which has the obligatory stitching coming away on the inside but otherwise in good condition, power cable. aux leads for connecting ipod etc, and i'll dig out a speakon cable for it too. Not looking for any trades on this i'm afraid as ive just bought the RH750, the only thing that i would be interested in is a Musicman Bongo Stealth 4HS. Edit: FS only now as have purchased the Bongo. Thanks for looking. Lee

I bought an RH750 this morning, picking it up Saturday. I like the sound and features of my RH450, I just miss a bit of top end sizzle, and I also like the fact the Spectracomp is in the top layer so no need go into shift mode to access it. I think once my ABM500 comes back from being serviced, the RH450, ABM and Sansamp can all be sold, the 750 should be adequate for all my needs.
which leads us nicely on to this chap.... (so many superb examples to choose from but this is my favourite) http://youtu.be/kFJSAfAMjLs
Brilliant !!

The sudden GAS attack I developed for a Musicman Bongo 4 HS Stealth is showing no signs of going away!
think i might look at upgrading the wheels or maybe grab a flightcase for it andy
Definitely worth it, on the plus side you can get good quality castors fairly cheaply.
-
The wheels are probably the weakest part of the Mag, I've got one and 2 of my friends have owned them, all suffered with the wheels falling apart. I left mine at our rehearsal space and was gonna order some new ones, then someone decided to move it by tilting it sideways and dragging it, the result being the castor bracket went through the bottom of the cab, so it's now sat being unused and unloved with f***ed castors and a hole in the bottom!

If I were you I'd be PM'ing Conan and seeing if you can get that NS2000 for £100. I've had one for 14 years and although it's mainly a back up to my Warwick these days, I can't see me ever parting with it. Neck through construction, excellent build quality, 2 EMG Hz humbuckers, If you can get that for £100 I'd take their arm off, unbeatable value (unless it's a complete basket case of course)
these are epic, and a great price too http://basschat.co.uk/topic/225953-mesa-boogie-powerhouse-4x10-15-for-sale-l495-price-drop/ from your list i would be on the lookout for an SWR but the mesa is easily as good if not better.
If I was in the market for a big cab, I'd be on that Mesa in a shot. I know it's not an 810 but they are immense!
The RH750 solves the problem with the top end btw for anyone that didn't know!
Think I'm going to have to try a 750, I like the sound of the 450 and the feature set is great but I do miss some top end sizzle.
