I was in your position too, wanting lighter cabs. I had reservations about it being enough, my last few cab set-ups have been Trace 1x15+4x10, Ashdown 8x10, Warwick WCA 115+ either 411 or 211. This thing handles everything I throw at it with ease, no need for back breaking cabs for me anymore! I've also heard great things about the Bergantino CN212, I'm sure there's a few users of those on here who can give you the lowdown on those.

I've never used a GK head through it (was hoping to get use of a 1001rb over xmas but didn't happen) but if you ever venture up to Bristol from Devon you're welcome to try out my Barefaced Big Twin 2. It sounds massive, the build quality seems fine to me (I've only had this BF cab so I can't comment on issues others have had with previous gen cabs), can handle huge amounts of power but can be carried with one hand if you want to.

NV610's are amazing cabs. Beautifully built and sound fantastic. If I was in the market for a big cab at the moment, I'd be seriously tempted by that Mesa Boogie Powerhouse in the FS section though!

The contemporary jazz is pretty tempting at £329. As is the Aspiration Elite 5 at £399.

A MusicMan Bongo stealth. 6 months ago I would've laughed if you'd told me I'd be gassing for one, I hated the looks! Then I watched that video of the guy comparing Fender P, J, Bongo, Ray and a boutique fretless, and absolutely loved the sound of the Bongo.

My new Barefaced Big Twin 2, and my RH450. Only used for a couple of rehearsals and gigs up to now, but liking it! Having said that I'm possibly gonna borrow a mates GK 1001RB-I I over xmas and see how it sounds through the BT2.

I imagine it would be ok, as I said mine was a 4u and all I had in it was a 2u head and a 1u tuner which was very shallow so there was quite a bit of space inside the rack. Having said that I've seen plenty of local players using 2u amp heads in 2u rack cases so I imagine it'd be fine. As for the chrome bars, going by the measurements the lids are 1.5" in depth so you should have no issue there.

It says total rackable depth 14.5", just measure your amp from front to back. I had the standard one which is about 16-17" and it used to house a Warwick Tubepath head, with the chrome grab bars on the front, easily.
