1.
PS I've just noticed you endorse "gear", so perhaps you're part of the problem? Do spectraflex cables and elite strings help you communicate better?
Meeeow!!
 2.
How tall are you for reference? I'd take an L usually, but looks like I will probably be an M, if not an S! Loving these, will be getting a black one. Would also gladly invest in BC sweatbands if they ever became possible, as I've discovered the need for them at hot and sweaty gigs lately!
Good call! Sweat bands next please!!
 3.
I assume it was clipping like mad in that state too, you were right to storm the stage and put him right!
Yes it certainly was! I think the thing i found most alarming was his ignorance, the fact he couldn't see why i was starting to get the hump with him, which just made me worse! I remember thinking, surely he can't be that stupid/deaf to think what he's doing to it is normal.
 4. I always get the feeling people think i'm being snobby or offish if i say no but you gotta look after yourself IMO, we do gigs with a couple of other local bands quite often and i'm more than happy to share my gear with these guys because we're all friends and i know they will respect it and should anything happen they would pay for the repairs. But if it's someone i don't know my mind instantly goes back to a gig i did back in the 90's when i let the support band's bass player use my brand new Trace rig, it was a AH350SM, 2103H and 1518 and i'd saved for bloody ages to buy it. He was happy enough to borrow it but obviously didn't like the clean sound it produced, he thought the best idea was to max everything to make it distort! I watched in horror as the overload light stayed on constantly for there first number before i got his attention after the song to say to him "turn the gain down, it's farting its bollocks off!" His answer was "Nah man, i like the distortion"!! We exchanged a few polite words before i turned it down myself and ended the conversation with " You touch that gain again and i'll f**king pan you"( i was a bit fiery in my youth)! Anyway, the point of the story is, in an ideal world all bass players would treat each other's gear with care and respect, but the reality is sadly different!
 5.
Oh and to the OP, my one that's up on here as a NBD thread set me back £1100, bassdirect have a 4 string version (also pre-owned but mint) up for £1300. You can get a lot more than korean quality warwicks for that kind of money. The Korean workmanship isn't all that bad, I own at least three Korean made basses, but Warwick will have made sure the components don't live up to the ones they use in Germany, and you can be sure the tools most certainly don't.
Your new one is a stunner mate!
 6. There was a recent thread about shop vs online, and from some of the posts on there it would appear that this level of customer service is not limited to Denmark Street i'm afraid. It seems like there are 2 questions you get asked when you apply for a job in a music store: Are you completely clueless about all kinds of musical instruments? Are you a total asshole with an uncanny ability to knob people off with your arrogance within 30 seconds of meeting them? If you're answer is yes to one of these questions then you can start tomorrow, if you answer yes to both then you can start today, you're management material!!
 7.
If getting a blue bass is a deal breaker, why not buy a regular german Streamer for £600 or so and spend £200 getting it refinished in Ocean Blue? You'll still save a few hundred quid and you get exactly what you want! Truckstop
See, this is the reason i ask for other BC'ers advice/opinions, so they can point out the things that i don't think of!!
 8.
As a fan of all things Warwick at the moment, i like the new Professional series basses (apart from the TM Stevens of course) and echoing my comments on another thread talking about the value people place on where the bass is made, if it played nicely, i'd buy one. Graeme
Yes that is a good point, my Spector is only a cheaper NS2000 model but it plays lovely. The word "upgrade" was probably a bit misleading in my original post as my USA P bass is the one most likely to make way for a new arrival. I know what you mean about TM's sig model bass, it's definitely an accquired taste! Although if it gave me some of TM's groove i'd be all over one!
 9. To be honest the only reason i even looked at the korean built basses is that second hand German Streamer LX4's in blue are not that easy to find. If the right german model comes up at the right time then thats's the way i would go, without doubt. Would be interested to see/hear how the Pro series stacks up against a Spector Euro 4 LX though, seeing as they're not that far apart on price.

 11.
Yeah, someone's selling a German $$ Corvette for £1000 on here and it's proper lush. Worth over £2k new!! Truckstop
If it's dc2009's old one you're talking about, then yes it is a beauty and the colour is perfect. Unfortunately it's not a Streamer, and besides i need to shift some gear before i do anything else!
 12. Hi guys, Anyone got any views on the Warwick Pro series basses? For as long as i can remember i've wanted an Ocean blue streamer and if i can shift some gear on then a pro series one could be within reach. However, in comparison to a german built one i keep looking upon it as a cheaper bass but at the end of the day it's still a £1,300 instrument so just wondered what the quality was like. I'm also curious how it would stack up next to a Spector Euro 4LX, which is what i'd sort of made my mind up would be a natural upgrade from my NS2000.
 13.
I'd consider this to be on the heavy side Comes in just over 15lb. Heavy or not, that is a great looking bass. My Spector weighs in at about 11lbs but it feels well balanced and comfortable to play which is much more important to me.
 14. If it's right for your situation then go for it! For what it's worth, i've taken my ashdown 8x10 to gig's on my own in a Ford Focus so transporting it isn't as difficult as you might think. You're always gonna get the "I've got a 1x10 markbass combo which i can fit in a rucksack and take it to gigs on my unicycle and it sounds a million times fatter/louder/better than any prehistoric 8x10" argument but it's all about personal choice. And the fact everyone is going lightweight means there's some great bargain big cabs out there.
 15.
And I'll be the second: +1.
And i'll be the third +1
 16.
I had 2 sets od D'addario ProSteel XL's that had issues with the E string, in the first set the E was dead straight out the packet, the second set was fine at first but the E died after one gig, the A,D and G were still bright but the E was completely shot. I just put it down to a blip in their QC but decided i'd drop them an email today anyway. Had a reply from George within an hour, gave him the serial no's from the bags and got 2 complimentary new sets on the way. Can't complain about that sort of customer service!
Update: 2 new sets of ProSteel's arrived this morning, thats less than 48 hours from when i sent the first email!! Also a nice personal note in the pack offering their sincere apologies. Other companies could certainly learn from this level of customer service!

 18.
I so agree about how going into a music shop can be nerve wracking. I would sometimes browse round local shops for ideas for presents for the Ex, and I always felt as if everyone could tell I wasn't a musician and was wondering if I had wandered in from a WI meeting by mistake. However I have now discovered a lovley local shop run by 2 great middle aged guys. I offer you this genuine exchange for your amusement.. ME: Have you got any kazoos HIM: Sorry love I'm afraid we haven't ME: That's a shame, I was looking for a stocking filler for my boyfriend HIM: Well how about one of these little drums? ME: Thinks.. 'BF is a drummer, we've got too many percussion instruments already' But actually SAYS 'No thanks, I've got plenty of things to bang, I was looking for something to blow!' The words were out of my mouth and hanging in the air before I could stop them. Gusts of laughter ensued from everyone. You wouldn't get THAT on the internet!! (But I might have got my kazoo!)
Priceless!! Could be straight out of a movie called "Carry on music shop"!!
 19. I remember when i was younger and had just started playing, a trip to the music store should have been a happy occasion. The reality though was that it was quite nerve wracking, because most of the guys who worked in all the local music stores were assholes! Stores like Treblerock, Pro Music and ABC music, full of condescending pricks who looked down their noses at anyone who wasn't part of their little clique or a "face" on the local music scene. Here's 2 examples of the wonderful customer service and advice these places were willing to offer a beginner, Example 1: ME: "excuse me can i try that black ibanez bass please?" HIM:(without even looking up from his venue magazine) "Do you have the money on you to buy it?" ME: " not on me no, i'm just getting some ideas for my first proper bass" HIM; " Come back later and i'll try and find time to get it down"! (there was no-ne else in the shop, not like he was rushed off his feet) Example 2:(Different store) ME: "Excuse me, can i try the blue ibanez bass please?" HIM: (Literally laughing in my face) "Really? I mean, even if you could afford that bass, which you probably can't, would you really want it in that colour? why don't have a go on that black precision copy instead"! And then just carried on chatting to his mate, without even getting up. Now they weren't all quite as bad as that, when Guitar workshop was open there was a guy in there(I think his name was Kit Morgan) who was always really friendly. On the other end of the scale, when i saved enough hard earned cash to buy my first brand new amp, i headed off to the bass centre in Wapping to buy a Trace rig and the guy in there couldn't do enough for me, loads of advice and help and did me a cracking deal! I'm sure there's some genuinely nice guys in local stores, but my personal memories aren't quite so rosy and nostalgic! Rant over!!
 20.
'88 was when I got mine too! Mine blew up and I threw it away. It didn't occur to me to get it repaired. A real shame. I also ended up with an Amp I absolutely hated, a Carlsboro Stingray. I ran the Klipp through an old 60's Marshall 4x12 but I swapped that for a crappy 1x15 because I couldn't lift the 4x12 on my own (I was only a kid).
I had the matching Laney 4x12 with mine, i remember my parents paid £60 for the pair from a friend who's son had given up playing guitar to take up drums. I certainly wouldn't mind finding one for that price now!! I did the exact same thing, traded mine for a Marshall 1x15 combo which to this day is still by far the worst amp i've ever owned/used! I think i kept the Marshall about 2 months before i developed enough hatred for it that i had to go get something else!
 21.
Yeahh!!!! I've got a couple of warwicks cabs (WCA 211 Pro + WCA 115 ND) and I think it is good stuff.
I'm certainly impressed with it so far, it is good stuff, and the fact the majority of people are going lightweight means you can pick up some real bargains. Happy days!
 22.
I think that if I was tempted to try this I would try to track down a Laney Klipp for the guitar end. From what I gather they were really popular with Bassists back in the day; I owned one as my first 'proper' amp and can see why.
Wow, Laney Klipp, now there's a blast from the past! I also had one of these as my first "proper amp" back in about 1988. I listened to some old recordings of it a few years back and it actually sounded really good as a bass amp, wish i'd kept it. I traded it for a marshall which was utter sh*te!
 23. I used my complete Warwick rig for the first time at rehearsal yesterday and am completely GAS free this morning! I ran it flat, with the second tube stage switched in for most of the stuff and with the Tonepump on my spector flat, and was amazed by the lack of tweaking needed. I had so much clarity i may need some extra practice on my technique as there was nowhere to hide! Even without using my Hyperdrive pedal my Spector had a lovely growl to it. One thing i did notice though was the volume difference. It wasn't much of an issue as the Warwick cuts through so well, but if i'd used the same volume settings on my ABM500 it would've probably taken the windows out! After what seems like months of looking/listening to amps and cabs and going through the whole "Should i go lightweight" debate, i am very very happy with what i've ended up with. Only problem i need to address now is do i part company with the ABM and 8x10, or keep it as a spare and to use with my USA P bass when i do stuff with my mate's blues band. Not a bad problem to have i guess!!
 24. I've used a mate's Bass terror through a 4x10 and it was very very loud! But as for the ABM being quiet, i'm not so sure about that, i own an ABM500 Evo RC and Ashdown 8x10 and i've never once been in a situation where it wasn't loud enough, even in a band with a psychotic drummer and 2 guitarist's both using marshalls. A similar volume comparison was in a thread recently, and as i said then, if a full ABM500 rig is struggling to be heard in a rehearsal/gig situation then a) the band is phenomenally loud, the amp has a fault or c) the band are all hogging the same frequencies and its a "cutting through" problem rather than a volume problem.
 25. I'd say my two rigs keep me pretty happy!
