I used to have an Escort estate, the amount of stuff you could cram in that with both back seats folded down was fantastic. (still an Astra ain't bad at all and has more power so i'm not stuck doing 50 on the motorway with all the kit while bandmates blast off into the sunset with light 3 door cars. haha)
When i had my Astra van i used to dread the saturday afternoon phonecall from our old drummer "Alright mate, can you chuck my kit in your van when you pick your gear up from the rehearsal room, that way i can take my motorbike tonight"!
-
I've just been spoilt recently, the band travels to gigs in a van together and my rig lives at our rehearsal room so i've forgotten how to "cram"!!

Excellent, cheers guys! Just gotta hope the purchase goes through now!!
I would just compare the total wxdxh with the 810. Should be simple to work out.
Laid flat on their backs the 2 cabs are approx 135cm and the 8x10 i fitted in is approx 115cm. I can't remember how much spare space i had with the 810 in there, and i don't own the Focus so i can't go measure it, so just wondered if any other BC'ers fit 2 full size cabs into a Focus.

Hey guys, bit of a strange question but do any of you know if 2 Warwick cabs (411 & 115) would fit into a Ford Focus? It's only for collection purposes, so no basses/amp heads involved (they definitely won't fit in my saloon car) i would normally have access to our gig van but its away on a camping trip and the biggest thing i can lay my hands on at short notice is a Focus. I've fitted my 4U rack, 2 basses and 8x10 in it before but just wanted to see if anyone had had 2 full size cabs in one before i head off on an almost 300 mile round trip!

I have a Boss GT6-B for sale, It's a great unit with some cool effects and amp modelling, unfortunately i just don't use it enough to warrant keeping it. It comes with the Boss power supply, new manual and a brand new Gator gig bag. All the info you need can be found here: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/GT-6B/ I'm looking for £140 for it(thats what i paid for the unit alone just a couple of months ago). It's in excellent condition, no marks or dings, great for home practicing with headphones. I'd prefer cash on collection, i'm based in Bristol but could always do a meet somewhere within reason if you prefer. If you want to discuss posting it drop me a message and we'll see what we can sort out. I can't seem to upload the pics but if you want i can email them to you.

As i've posted on another thread about the same amp, you need to be doing some serious venues for that OTB500 not to be loud enough, they are insanely loud, i've played one through a 4x10 and believe me it puts out some serious volume! I did an outdoor biker rally the weekend using my Ashdown ABM500RC and 8x10 and even without going through the PA it was plenty loud enough! The 1000w Orange will be an absolute monster!

As waynepunkdude says, you'd have to be in a monstrous venue for the 500 not to be loud enough. I've played one through a 4x10 and it was unbelievably loud! I play an Ashdown ABM500 RC through an 8x10 and i've never once been in a situation where that wasn't loud enough(including an outdoor biker rally the weekend where i wasn't going through the PA).
I tried a 5.1 a while ago. Very nice head, lots of power and fairly easy to dial in a tone. I though about getting it but nothing about it screamed 'I need to buy this amp!' so I decided against it.
Was there anything you particularly didn't like about it?
I had a 10.1. Very nice amp... very loud, nice EQ. It has a 'proper' tube pre like the Mesa stuff (and, I believe, the Genz Streamliner). Things to be aware of - It's heavier than Jupiter, and IME it's quite dark sounding in character. You could probably EQ that out, though. (Incidentally, a year or two on, my search has ended at the Streamliner. It eclipses every amp I've had, which also includes a SVT-3pro).
To be honest the weight isn't really an issue for me personally, my amp tends to be kept at our rehearsal room and when we gig we all travel together in a van and theres always plenty of helping hands available. I'd never really taken much notice of Warwick amps but now he's brought it to my attention i have to admit, i think it looks fantastic and looks like it has some really cool features. As i said finding a used one may prove to be a bit of a task, a new one keeps coming up on the bay but i'm not really in a position to fork out £850 on a head at the moment. Damn it, why did my friend have to go and complicate things!!

Hey guys, I'd more or less decided that my next amp head would be an Ampeg SVT3-pro, i've played through one before and thought it ticked all the boxes. However, when i mentioned this to a bass playing friend of mine his response was "Do yourself a favour and keep your eyes out for a second hand Warwick tubepath 5,1, i've owned both and given the choice now i'd take the Warwick every time, it does everything the SVT3 does and more". So, have any of you guys owned/used one, and is he right, are they that good? The sticking point could be that used Tubepath's are like rocking horse s**t! Not that i'm in any drastic hurry, i'd need to shift some gear on first anyway. So, opinions please ladies and gentleman!

Fingerstyle or Pick.. are your fingers the talkers?
ern500evo replied to ToneDeluxe's topic in General Discussion
Mostly fingers but working in a covers band there's some songs that sound better with a pick. In a 30 song set i probably use a pick for about 4 songs. -
If you're struggling for volume with a 450w head, 1x15 and 4x10 then either a)your guitarists are deafening b)You're playing massive pubs/clubs or c) there's something not right with your rig or settings. I use a Ashdown ABM500 and an 8x10 and even in a band with 2 guitarist's both using Marshall heads/cabs volume is never a problem, my amp sometimes is just ticking over. Your rig should be enough to take ceiling's down in most pubs!!

What's the most over-rated bass, or bass related product???
ern500evo replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
Those 12/other silly number of strings basses! Why? The fingerboards are as wide and playable as my desk and they sound horrible on the ridiculously low/high strings. If you want that kind of range play piano! Compensating for something?
As an engineering/manafacturing exercise it's amazing, as a bass it's utterly pontless!! -
Good to see Jack Bruce in there, he often gets overlooked in these polls.
Well I had an SVT 3-PRO for a while, great sounding amp, and have to say that when I heard the PF-500 for the first time, I was in no way disappointed, in comparison. Know what you mean abt the weight issue tho - thats why I got the TC Classic in the first place, but as soon as I saw details of the PF-500, I knew I`d get one - unless I didn`t like the sound of course. Talkbass has some great threads on the PF-500, may be worth a look, but, coming from someone who loves Ampeg sounds, I`m really pleased with it.
Lozz seeing as you've owned both, and taking weight out of the equation as it's not a big issue for me, given the choice would you take a second hand SVT3 pro or a new PF500? I've been looking at used SVT3's but the PF500 is getting some great reviews from other BC'ers and seeing as the price is about the same as the used SVT i'm now starting to wonder.
no the whole thing
They don't seem to come up second hand very often, and new they're still up near the £400 mark. I've got the GT6-B which i picked up for £120 on ebay. Haven't really spent enough time with it to use it much live but from messing about with it at home with headphones it seems pretty good.

Thanks guys. I didn't realise it was AJ playing it, great sound!
