1.
I know nothing about rack mounted stuff, I thought it went up in 2s, 2U, 4U and so on. Been looking at the Ashdown ABM rack mounted one too. Will it work just the same as a normal head? Is the case just for protection for gigging?
Yes, just additional protection - I still haven't racked mine yet, but I must - if it fell even a couple of feet it'd do some damage to itself... I thought about a padded carry bag, but the GK one is over £100, so sod that! I've got a 4U rack bag affair on the way at half that price (they didn't have a 3U). The 2U + a bit of drilling would be fine too though...
2. You'd want 3U (you just need some room at the top) A perforated/vented 1U panel would finish it off nicely...
3. I've got the 1001RB too - almost bought the 700. So far I'm really impressed - the only downside (maybe) is the top-mounted fan which requires an extra U of space if you're rack-mounting... At that price, I'd go for it.
4. I think I'd try slackening the truss rod somewhat, and raising the strings at the bridge a little to compensate - though you may need to shim the neck joint. Of course if there are specific high frets, they need reducing...
5. Ouch - £763.74 for a Highway 1 - £1,092.74 for a USA Jazz. Hope they serve good coffee, massage and limo-you-home...
6. Bought a pair of DiMarzio J pickups in good condition, which arrived promptly. Good to with yet another nice guy here! Recommended
7. Yet another possibility is that you're by now over-sensitive to it ... it is after all an *acoustic* annoyance on an electric instument - try either cranking up the amp (may be impractical...) or using headphones. (Keep practising - the 'clank is far less annoying once your rythm's spot-on)
8. Over the pickup/maybe slightly behind (precision) for most stuff, or at the base of the neck to get a more upright feel/tone - playing nothing much but the Blues... I seem to have completely forgotten how to use a pick - probably ought to do a bit more of that!
9. I still think it's a nice place to visit regularly - a good mix of opinions and interests, and generally very well behaved (especially for an Internet entity). There are some cranky/intolerant types, but that's life... (and it's particularly understandable at this time of year). Moderation should always be a last resort IMO - only after 'peer moderation' by members has completely failed, and generally this seems to be the case here. Long may it continue!

12.
As new, only about 10 hours playing time on it - 0 fret wear. How much is it worth?
Must be at least £100 I'd have thought
13. Unless it is a fault, it's probably the protection circuits kicking-in (likely because it 'sees' a short-circuit). Eliminate the speaker lead first (worth having a spare if you don't have one anyway), then the only other possibility would be a speaker drive unit is shorting out intermittently (it could happen...) All this is quesswork, but I'd be surprised if EBS *don't* have short-circuit protection/monitoring...
14. They *should* be interchangeable. Only one way to find out for sure though - just mind the fragile painted curves at the edges of the neck cutout...
15.
The decision for me is the body finish, being a huge Pink Floyd fan my first inclination was the black body / black pickguard / maple neck. But I have now being thinking about a themed paint finish (I am pretty hand at paint jobs etc.) so was thinking about a painted design a la Pink Floyd. Any suggestions? TIA
Stick with black and have the Dark Side of the Moon prism... ?
16. Hi Jon,
How much would you want for both together? Jon.
How about £52 ? Cheers, Stewart
17. David bought my Doug Wimbish signature Ibanez, and paid within minutes. Good communication, a pleasure to deal with. Recommended!
18. Warmoth do a good approximation: Warmoth Antigua (But personally I hate it...)
19.
how does it sound/how effective is it? I like ashdown stuff and that's got a valve in it - a fair few people on here think it's a load of crap
Why not ask Dave (DHA) if he would let you try one? Otherwise, I'd be surprised if anything Tone Factor (Mojo Hand?) wasn't pretty good...
20. Regarding the DHA compressor:
why?
Because the designer/builder is a user on this board? Because it's orange and green Because it's got a valve in it
21. DHA ! DHA Compressor
22. Probably just the new cab letting you hear noise more clearly - patently if there is a fault, it must be with the head or the environment... Have you tried moving the rig to another room/socket? Turn off any fluorescent lights (or worse, dimmers) Check the fridge too
23. You're worried about the pickguard colour with THOSE STRINGS!?
24. Unless the cabs are sealed (not ported), I'd agree with bass_ferret 100% - don't waste your time and money.
