  5. When reading EQ recommendations, bear in mind that Lemmy's famous "bass off/full mids/treble off" was the sound he used later on when he switched to using the bridge pickup on his basses - the tone is very different to his older sound. Also, on a Marshall Superbass the EQ is boost only (if I remember correctly) so bass and treble on 0 isn't cutting anything.
  6. The great clearout begins... Weight 8.97lb. The bass is in superb condition, especially considering its age, with just a few very light marks to the body edge (see pics, although they look worse than they are under the camera flash). As far as I can see, the wenge neck is spotless. The bass comes with a sturdy hardcase. Mild disclaimer - I'm not 100% certain the pickups are MEC as they are unmarked. However it wasn't unusual for MEC to leave their pickups blank back then so who knows. *Withdrawn*
  7. DR Hi Beams or Fat Beams - they meet all your requirements. Easily the best strings I've ever played.

  16. I love these basses, although sadly I've never played one - although I have seen Geezer Butler and Roger Glover using them from several feet away 😁 I remember reading about them in Bassist magazine when I was just starting out and loving the look. I remember the Vigier ad featured a beautiful teal green with mirror scratchplate. Why they dropped the scratchplate is a bit of a headscratcher, it looks far more graceful with it. Another thing I remember is the references to a Rickenbacker-esque sound, in both the Roger Glover interview and the Bassist review, but I've never heard the similarly myself. @ped - any chance of some sound clips?
  17. No, not at all! I just meant it's your standard generic nut. Disappointing to see it on a Stingray.
  18. Saucy Jack - Spinal Tap
  19. Sinister Mackenzie - Sons Of Merrick
  20. Looks like a typical nougat nut you find on a lot of budget basses these days. You can leave a mark with your fingernail. The scratchplate looks like it still has the protective film on it.
  21. A Sad Song - Ten Years After
  22. Middleman - Terrorvision
