  1. It does depend on the bass - the EBS only really gave that sort of ZZ Top grind with the single coil P. They push drive pedals in a particular way. With everything else it had that typical Billy midrangey sound. What bass(es) are you using?
  2. Here's a very interesting video on the lined/unlined debate I saw recently. I rarely play fretless, and haven't owned one for years, but I always naturally went to lined. More accurate, surely? Maybe not...
  3. It's not very helpful I know, but the main thing here is the old-style Precision with the single coil. The distortion is adding flavour but that single coil clank is really what this sound is all about. When I had such a Precision I used to get a great ZZ Top tone with an EBS Billy Sheehan, surprisingly. I don't think chasing a Marshall-derived tone is vital.
  4. Falling Forever - Paradise Lost
  5. I can confirm the above! Top bloke to deal with.

  13. Hard to argue with any of these. Imagine, an Epiphone Grabber!
  14. A recent JLo interview would suggest this may be on the horizon...

  16. Bed and Breakfast Man - Madness
  17. The Bucket - Kings of Leon
  18. Reward - The Teardrop Explodes
  19. Run For Your Life - Beatles
  20. When reading EQ recommendations, bear in mind that Lemmy's famous "bass off/full mids/treble off" was the sound he used later on when he switched to using the bridge pickup on his basses - the tone is very different to his older sound. Also, on a Marshall Superbass the EQ is boost only (if I remember correctly) so bass and treble on 0 isn't cutting anything.
  21. The great clearout begins... Weight 8.97lb. The bass is in superb condition, especially considering its age, with just a few very light marks to the body edge (see pics, although they look worse than they are under the camera flash). As far as I can see, the wenge neck is spotless. The bass comes with a sturdy hardcase. Mild disclaimer - I'm not 100% certain the pickups are MEC as they are unmarked. However it wasn't unusual for MEC to leave their pickups blank back then so who knows. *Withdrawn*
  22. DR Hi Beams or Fat Beams - they meet all your requirements. Easily the best strings I've ever played.
  23. Among The Cybermen - Geezer Butler
