  1. Surprised that Martin Kemp - a bass player himself - should choose a bassist that seemed to have only picked up a bass the week before. It felt like a "I can play guitar, how hard can the bass be?" situation. Luckily Carol rocked up and instantly made her band come alive - although the less said about her Jimmy Saville though, the better! The thought did occur to me that it really wouldn't be hard to find musicians over 65 who have spent most of their lives playing in rock bands and who could knock out All Right Now in their sleep, but that wouldn't make for a very entertaining show. It broke my heart when the old boy on drums had to leave!
  2. On My Hotel TV - Skunk Anansie
  3. I remember several years ago l had a very helpful discussion with a Vigier expert on Talkbass, coincidentally also called Ped. I'm sad to say I've still not had the pleasure of playing one - the bolt-on range just didn't have the same appeal.
  4. The Big Architect In The Sky - Duncan Johnson
  5. I Me Mine - Beatles
  6. Not another Bongo, THE Bongo!
  7. Very wise. Never attempt to operate a tape measure immediately following a takeaway.
  8. B i t c h School - Spinal Tap
  9. It took a while to adjust but I really love the look of these. I've always wanted to try one but never had the opportunity sadly. Is the back pickup in the traditional MM position or a bit further back?
  10. Grey Flap - Pist. On
  11. Serial Killer - Motorhead
  12. Why is there an assumption that anybody playing up the dusty end is widdling? Notes is notes, doesn't matter where you play them.
  13. Martin's going send his daughter a son-in-law?
  14. An absolute juggernaut of a bassline. I don't really consider Soundgarden to be Grunge, but some people do.
  15. Big Bad Bass - Jet Harris
  16. Do It - Aphrodite's Child
  17. Slow Down - Beatles
  18. Knocking Nails Into My House - Slade
  19. Really? Flame's an amazing film but it makes being in a band look pretty hellish... "Can you feel your toes Jack?"
  20. Goodbye Toulouse - Stranglers
  21. Time 'o the Signs - Terrorvision
  22. That's quite a similar story to mine - there was a guitar shop near my school, snd we'd pop in during "free" periods. They had a black Jack Bass in the window. Sadly, I never got to try it out, and I've never actually played one since. This would have been around 1997. I try not to think of the Wal Pro that hung on the wall, unwanted and unloved, for £450...
