  1. This album was a massive influence on me when I was first learning to play bass - and that tone... It was an honour to meet Roger at the LBGS a few years ago.
  2. If you want that mammoth ivory tone, nothing else will do.
  3. I've never been a fan of Eric Clapton, associating him mainly with that horrible, glossy millionaire Blues. Learning more about him, I realise I really should give his earlier work some more attention. I found the part about his little boy impossible to deal with and had to turn it off. Absolutely horrific.
  4. £2.39 shipping, sounds legit.
  5. I had the distinct feeling that the poor chap at Andertons was a bit clueless. I've moved on a bit from the TW idea now, but who has them, out of interest?
  6. Me too mate! The bug has bitten! Any idea why they've used the EMG circuit instead of the Tonepump?
  7. That's crackers. I've been quoted £1999 for tye new classic by Bass Direct. I'd take anything Andertons say with a pinch of salt at the moment. I spoke to them last week about the Euro TW they have on the website. Despite being discontinued, the chap there insisted that not only could they order them, they come in the standard Euro colour schemes.
  8. I was going to be 'that' person who points out that it's the Fender Jazz on Spirit, but I thought better of it 😉
  9. I'd be interested to hear it with flats! And it's only cosmetic I know, but those massive tuners look a bit daft...
  10. I'm really looking forward to this. The delay is a minor disappointment. Two points though: - Is Ringo contractually obliged to mention "peace and love" in every statement he makes? - Disney?!
  11. Don't tempt me! I've been playing along to Empire this afternoon... we're all used to the 'everything on' tone, but the P pickup on it's own is awesome too.
  12. Step 2: Convince myself I need another Spector - easy! I noticed @Dov65 selling his limited edition Euro on here and after a quick phone call it was mine! These truly are wonderful basses. Impeccable craftsmanship and an aggressive growl like no other bass. I'm having to readjust to active basses but it's worth it for the incredible tone this thing puts out. Drop C on this thing is a brutal experience. So here it is - Eddie Jackson!
  13. I've rejoined the gang. A friend invited me to join a new band, going back to my metal roots. It's in drop C, and I've never played a bass more suited to heavy drop tuning than a Spector. Step 1 of my plan - I sold my NS2000/4 to a mate years ago and instantly regretted it. Soon after I managed to get hold of another one... and sold it to another mate. More regret. Despite years of pestering he always refused - until now! So here it is, in spotless condition:
  14. It's a magnificent looking bass. Never seen one on such a trad finish though! I'd love to have a go on one but I've never seen one in real life... a mate of mine tried one when he was in the States and he still dines out on how amazing it was.
  15. I am now the proud owner of Dave's Spector Euro. And a magnificent thing it is too. Dave is an absolute credit to our community. And his packaging is excellent too!
  16. I only saw Yes once, at Hammersmith in 2003. But what an experience. A treasured memory. Now I remember, I had tickets to see The Syn at the London Astoria, but sadly it was cancelled. It would have been incredible to have seen him in such a relatively small venue.
  17. How do people usually put weight on? 🙄
  18. Sounds awesome to me - isolated and in the mix. Geddy's Jazz always sounded the best when he played on the front pickup only IMHO.
  19. I get it. In my current covers band - nothing at all challenging - there are certain songs that I'm not 100% on. Enough to get by without anybody noticing, but there are always a few points where I have to concentrate to get through it. The other day, for a laugh, I listened to some of my first band's recordings and decided to play along. It was note-perfect, and I haven't heard them in over 25 years.
  20. I'll stick with the Tonepump for now then, it seems to be more socially acceptable 😆
  21. I'm after a Haz clone... how would you compare it to the Tonepump?
  22. Having two drummers playing at once doesn't just merge into one - it becomes bigger. Much bigger. It's quite thrilling to hear it live - I saw Melvins do it a couple of times, but King Crimson with three drummers at the front of the stage was incredibly powerful, and not just the volume levels.
