  1. One day, all For Sale ads will be this good.
  2. Sol Invictus, the last Faith No More album. I just didn't get it at all, but knew that anything Patton-related is worth the effort. After a few listens it suddenly clicked, and now I wonder what caused me such bother in the first place. Also, Guinness. Took me years to understand it.
  3. I posted that before they were released. Luckily the projections were inaccurate!
  4. Fender seem to be pretty standard... I fitted a decorative tug bar to my Thunderbird and research suggested that Gibson in the 60s screwed them on at random.
  5. It's probably not the bass that's the issue. I've never been fond of playing bass through headphones as they do tend to emphasise the more unpleasant upper frequencies. Does it happen with other basses? Tell us more about your setup.
  6. I certainly wouldn't describe it as chunky, just chunkier that the old ones. Narrow but deep.
  7. I have purchased a cheap stereo Y cable for budget Rick-O-Sound adventures, but something isn't quite right - the Rick's pickups are being split as you would expect, but the signal from the neck pickup is ill--defined and seems to be lacking a lot of top end. I've tried different amps, preamps and pedals and the result is the same. So I've decided to lay the blame at the cheapo lead. Now, the official Rickenbacker box is no longer made, and the Rickysounds Stereo-Rama is £70, which seems a bit much - can anyone recommend a more cost-effective box or quality lead? Links appreciated I thank you.
  8. I always found it to be irritating beyond belief - I was a young metalhead at the time, and Fieldy's tone was the antithesis of what I considered to be a good metal bass tone. However, having heard it live, it finally made sense. It didn't turn me into a Korn fan though 🤣
  9. DRs are very soft on the fingers for rounds, and slightly lower tension than most. I use the Fat Beams. They are a bit pricey, but they last ages!
  10. John Wetton was an absolute wah monster. And a little obvious, but a classic.
  11. Apologies! I meant which one is the US and which is the UK? I can never remember. I have the Fieldy one and wanted to help, but seems it's all been resolved now anyway.
  12. Ah, sad news. I've always loved Budgie. So glad I got to see them a few times with the revolving door of guitar players they had toward the end! It's comforting to read him taking it so calmly. And that's quite a magnificent beard he's got himself.
  13. On a serious note, as a budding 14 year old bassist, I LOVED that tone when he's playing the black Precision in his bedroom, pick scrapes included.
  14. I pimped mine a bit too - Gotoh res-o-lites were added mainly because they look better than the stock Wilkinson tuners, but they are a bit smoother as well. Neck dive was never an issue in the first place. I've also added an ebony tug bar, purely for appearances! edit: Just realised I've added pictures of these mods earlier in the thread.
  15. I have one of the very early Vintage Pros with the dark fingerboard. I love it - it's everything I've ever wanted from a Thunderbird. And I love the narrow but deep neck.
  16. I think we need to see a pic of you actually playing the bass, just to be sure it isn't actually a P Bass by mistake.
  17. I tried that before. The offer was lower than I had hoped, unsurprisingly, but to their credit they were honest and suggested I'd be better off selling privately. Much better than the time Anderton's offered me £75 for my Epiphone Elitist EB3...
  18. Jimi at Planet Guitar. He's worked on all my basses and he does amazing work. https://www.planetguitar.org.uk
  19. Didn't you sell me a Markbass many moons ago?
