  1. The Suzi Quatro one was comedy gold. Just in case anybody hasn't heard it yet, she had a new Xmas single out that really returns to her Detroit roots - EVERYBODY kept telling her.

Boy George and Lol Creme came across very well. There's been a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere so far (apart from Ms Q).

I couldn't find a dedicated thread about this podcast already so thought I'd start one (someone's going to prove me wrong and link to one straight away now, aren't they?! 😁).  I recently came across this when looking for something to listen to during my walk into work each morning.  It's a really simple set-up - Guy and Gary talking to a huge number and variety of people they've worked with over the years (I think culled mostly from Mr Pratt's address book) about their experiences within the industry.  The conversation is pretty unpretentious and pleasingly free flowing and they mostly do a great job of keeping out of the way and letting their guest do the talking.  I've listened to about 8 or so of the 30+ podcasts available.  Giles Martin was brilliant - insightful, enlightening and entertaining - as was Dave Crosby, to name just two.  Very strongly recommended.

David Crosby?! I wonder if he's read Guy's book...

Studio. Stripped back Gibson cash in.  Yuck.

Well, I wouldn't buy it; if nothing it's simply from the perspective that if you're desperate for a Thunderbird you'll pull the trigger on this then wonder why you didn't just buy a IV.

What was so bad about the Studios? I did try a Studio 5 once - I didn't like it much, but I'm not too fond of 5 strings or modern Thunderbirds so it was never going to work for me.

The vintage sound thing is just a pointless bass cut.
    Fortunately, it can be ignored.

It's not pointless at all! Instant Machine Head. And it's great when running in stereo for copping the early Geddy and Chris Squire tones.

Admittedly,  if I'm gigging straight into one amp, the vintage mode isn't really useable live, but in the studio or in stereo it's invaluable - it's what a Rick should sound like to me.

I spied a 2005 tbird with what looks like a regular high mass bridge and a smaller headstock. Are the neck profiles thin on these as per the Epi 60s new one?

Do the Epi Pros have comfy necks? As in which one to avoid with a baseball bat neck ...

The bolt-ons have necks closer to Precision size, but they could never be described as baseball bats.

My Vintage Pro has a supremely comfy neck - for me. I like a narrow nut but not a shallow profile - this Thunderbird has a nice deep curve to the neck.
