I always wondered why he swapped out the neck pickup. In interviews he said he never used it. He also described Rick pickups as sounding like chewing corrugated iron - a marvellous description - and thought the humbucker in his signature bass was the first decent pickup they'd made.

Pretty MOR album, but with one the finest examples of the Alembic roar. I always think they sound better with a bit of distortion. Absolute tonal majesty.

Congratulations! I definitely recommend a bezel to go around the treble pickup - but don't get the 'official' Rickenbacker one as it only fits if the pickup is straight, which as we know, most aren't... yours doesn't look to wonky actually! The whole RIC treble bezel thing is pretty disgraceful anyway, ripping off another company's design. Pay extra for the original. It's much better quality as well. And the most important thing of all - peel those stickers off 😂

Ouch!

I can't play left handed, but I can convincingly hold a pick and move it up and down to make it look like I can! It astounds me that in a film that makes such an effort with authenticity, Neil Innes didn't pull Eric to one side and have a word... even people who can't play an instrument know it looks odd. Perhaps it was on purpose to wind up people like me.

Eric Idle's stiff waggling fingers make my teeth itch.

I hate the way they play that. The bass riff is sitting on the wrong beat. To be fair they've done it like this since Alan White joined, but it sounds so wrong to me. And Geoff Downes is a blundering oaf completely undeserving of the job.
