Every generation has their shot. Do you know what Led Zepplin is to teens today? " Old People's music or referred to as music my parents or in some cases my grandparents listened to.They have no real interest in it. Now, someone here will debate me and say, " my kids love Led Zeppelin" If they do, they are the exception. Blue
Nice to see you open to discussion as always Blue.

The worst song you have ever heard.?
And in the "completely serious, should've known better pile"... http://youtu.be/A0fuVoSa3dc
I've never understood the hatred for that song. It's a piece of music composed for a children's film. Does it's job admirably. -

For sale or trade - my Guild Starfire bass from the Newark St Reissue line - immaculate, as-new condition, and wearing a nice set of flats. Works very well with a bit of drive - instant Jack Casady! I've had this for a few months now and it's a gorgeous thing but sadly I don't think it's for me, so I'm open to trade offers, particularly for a nice Precision or Jazz. It comes with the Guild hardcase as well. Based in Dartford/SE London, viewings welcome.
It was indeed... were you interested at any point?
I was eyeballing it for quite a while! The blue one too. It's one of the most stunning fretboards I've ever seen!

Was that from Nick's?
They stick tbird pickups or alike pickups in everything. And fine if you like all your range to sound the same but in different shapes. I realise often basses have used the same pickups as another model and a reissue would possibly stick to that, but what's wrong with a little more variation on a theme. They literally have 4 basses with probably similar tone, bar the shape. Its to me like if p basses and j basses from fender only used jazz pickups or very similar in both models. I have no problem with Epiphone or Gibson.
I'm still a bit confused - do you mean Gibson or Epiphone use Thunderbird pickups in everything? I understand the point you are making but can't tell which basses you are referring to. The original Thunderbird pickups are scarce and sought after, which is why manufacturers like Lull and Thunderbucker Ranch are able to successfully recreate and sell them at considereable prices. Hopefully these 'new' Epiphone pickups are faithful recreations as well and not just the black ones in a different cover, because that would be a dreadful shame. -
Why are they putting those thunderbird style pickups on everything. They belong on a tbird I bet they are even in a similar space. I honestly wish some manufactures would give a little more variety from one bass to the other in terms of tone.
I'm not sure what you mean by this - I can think of very few basses with authentic Thunderbird-style pickups or tone. If you're referring to the Embassy, that is a reissue of a bass that used Thunderbird pickups as well, so it's authentic on that front. -
I for one am happy to see the back of the PRO IV in it's various guises. It just looked like a copy...the headstock was wrong, that bridge was wrong and it had too many knobs. At least the jack socket is in the right place.
I think the active Pro has been discontinued for a while. This new one is replacing the Classic Pro which was very similar to the US model. -

Retail prices according to Talkbass: Embassy - $696 Thunderbird - $995 Don't think we'll see much difference from those prices in £ either... -

The Embassy's cool but they've blundered the headstock... But never mind that - look at the Thunderbird! If those pickups are any good I'm getting one of each! I hope it's a creamier white than the recent Pro Tbirds though. We can but hope. -

How sad. I was reading about him just the other day, to see if he was still about. That green CS bass is really something. -

How do I get this tone Chaps? The Cult Live At The Lyceum.
Cosmo Valdemar replied to Dandelion's topic in General Discussion
In my opinion chorus and compression are effects and have nothing to do with tone. Tone comes from your fingers. Maybe the proper question should have been "What effects do I use to get my bass to sound like this?" Blue
I refuse to get drawn into this nonsense again. -
. I'm mainly a pick player myself. That's how I started out, and most of my favourite bassists are (mainly) pick players - including the sophisticated fellow in my profile picture!
Clever Cecil.

If you've got the bass back from loaning it to someone I would say it's their responsibility to ensure it's in the condition it was when they took it. If not they should stump up the cost of getting it sorted.

I use two 2x10 cabs, stacked vertically. Mainly because I'm 6ft 4 tall and normal 4x10 cabs project to the back of my knees.
Well, bad news... The pickup doesn't work. They can't/won't sort it. So I'm getting a refund. Hoping the sb700 for sale on here is still available
What a pain! You'd have thought the shop would give it a once over before sending it wouldn't you...
