1.
It's an ESP Horizon bass.
It's an LTD (or ESP) C305. Similar shape to the Horizon, but the Horizon generally had a sculpted body, PJ pickups and reverse tuners on the low strings.
2.
Quite pleased with this. Plays better than the Gibson's I've been near. Got some cash off the list price too. Had a superb deal (half price-ish) on amazon pointed out to me on a sunburst Epiphone Thunderbird 4 Pro, so snagged that too. A good day's snagging.
I really like the look of these... with that spec and hardware you can't go wrong really. The pickup spacing is a bit variable it seems. It looks like yours has the modern arrangement - some have the neck pickup a bit further back, toward the bridge like the 60s ones. I've often considered buying one and popping some Thunderbuckers in.
nice, the only thing that puts me off is the size of the headstock, hows the neck dive on that?
If you think these are big, have a look at the old 60s ones!
3.
I got mine a couple of weeks ago and I'm still having trouble putting it down. I'm wearing it now, as I type this. This Road Worn, my Diamond BCP-1, my Markbass SA450 and my newly-delivered Barefaced Two10 - just about where I want to be at the moment.
Don't forget Ritter! Beautiful basses these. I briefly owned a RW Jazz and it was easily the finest Jazz I've ever played. It just felt right.
4. I've never had a run of bad luck like you, but if your singer does have a viral throat infection, what else can he/she do but blow out the gig? 'Crying off' seems a little unfair!
5. A green Spector. That's a dream bass right there...
6. Well played that man!
7.
I suppose because I grew up in the pre-tab/Tab/TAB world, I have never seen the point in it. A lot harder to learn and apply than standard notation for me.
From experience I can assure you that, for a novice player who wants to learn how to play his/her favourite songs, tab is far quicker. It's much more of a quick fix as it takes virtually no time to become accustomed to. It's missing a lot of information, but for a bunch of unkempt 15 year olds trying to play along to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath it was more than sufficient.
8.
He's grown his hair hasn't he? Not sure about the side parting though... 😊
I can see it now. Impossible to un-see 😂
9. I didn't but BGM is always tucked away at the back! Looking at it now though, not sure what I'm looking for though...
10. It's the old classic - something has caught my eye so I'm dropping the price to £1000 for the next few days.
11. What a lovely-looking thing!
12.
The Intel advert.
To this day I expect it to continue into Tubular Bells.
13. Up. Offers welcome.
14. New lower price - £1150.
15. Offers of any sort welcome!
16. I wanted this, you beat me to it!
17. What's your pleasure sir? Very, very cool.
18. Offers/trades welcome!
19. But they do all have waffer-theen necks.
20. I still want this. If my Ripper sells I'll give you a shout
21.
Good practice not to be a slave to playing open strings as that wont transpose very well. If you play fretted, key shifts are just another position on the neck around the same shape. For this song, most will play in the original key but if you cover a lot of music then other keys come into play. You've heard the one about how to shut up a gtr..?? give him a horn key... Same would apply to bass..
Fair enough. I've never really thought about it like that. I've always played WGFA in the original key of A and as per the version above use lots of open strings - there are a few pull offs onto open strings which give the line a certain swagger. I imagine the line would stiffen up if played elsewhere on the neck.
22.
Kings X, they're playing a small bar here in Milwaukee next Tuesday night. Blue
That will be awesome! If you have the Live in London set from a few years ago, I'm somewhere in the audience.
