1.
Both of those isolated tracks are different to the version I've got on a Quadrophenia soundtrack!
John was in charge of remixing the songs for the soundtrack and re-recorded his bass lines with his Alembics. It's a much grittier, treblier sound than the original but unfortunatley his playing is a lot sloppier on the soundtrack. Probably fuelled by brandy. The soundtrack album is a bit hit and miss - do yourself a favour and get the original, it makes much more sense.
 2. The whole ahead/behind of the beat thing is something I have never been able to understand.
 3.
Anyone know what he was using on the track?
Gibson Thunderbird, probably still using Hiwatt at the time.
 4. I am now the proud owner of Ash's Fernandes FAB 180. And fab it certainly is. Ash is an extremely honest and upfront chap, the bass is exactly as described and was delivered very quickly and very well packed. I'm off now to do some more Ox impressions. Ash - thank you for everything.
 5.

I want one!
 6.
I knew nothing about it just told Mrs2611 about it as it is one of her favourite albums... I am currently wearing one of her shoes as a hat
It was only announced 3 days ago. I never thought I'd say it but thank God for Facebook!
 7. It's not bad. Totally lacking in excitement though. It reminds me of a cross between "Did You Steal My Money" and "Keep On Working". And we can praise Pino as much as we like, he's still wildly unsuitable for the job.
 8. So, anybody manage to get tickets for this? It didn't quite reach Kate Bush-level mania but probably not far off! I managed to get one for the Roundhouse so I am pleased.
 9.
My very first bass was a 1964 EB0. It was one of those 'why did I sell it' basses. Thinking of a trade for my 2 Ibanez RB850's plus a little cash my way? Not sure - I might have to sleep on this idea. Would you be interested? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/244267-ibanez-roadstar-2-rb850-1980s-japan-fsft/page__fromsearch__1
I'll do a straight trade for the Gus... ;-)
 10. I have to ask - what's with all the seemingly random pictures?
 11. Can you ring them back? Probably wouldn't achieve much other than getting a definite yes or no but it might make them squirm a bit!
 12.
I sold mine on eBay. Admittedly it was in 2007, but it easily made £450 from a £99 start. These don't come up often, even in the US, and it generated a lot of interest.
Interesting! I might just give it a go.
 13. Yep. Lee Pomeroy. He seems to get all the cool gigs - Steve Hackett, ELO... Take That I had a good old chat with him in the gents' at the last LBGS. Top chap, although he was a bit sad at having to miss the Roger Glover masterclass!
 14. Let's not forget his early work with pioneering power trio The Big Three. I don't think they left much of a recorded legacy but their reputation as a live act was nothing less than formidable.
 15. Surely it just means the seller is unwilling to drop the price any further. Of course they invariably do ;-)
 16. Up! Open to any offers, particularly guitars and guitar amps.
 17. I used my Ashdown ABM 500 with Ampeg cabs a couple of times. Did not like the sound one bit I'm sad to say, they didn't seem to match at all - the Ampeg cab seemed to turn the Ashdown into a load of undefined mud. And I had the amp set to a very trebly grind! I was always very happy with Ashdown cabs, unsurprisingly, but the best match I ever had with that amp was an ancient Mesa Boogie 1512. I've never heard a tone quite like it.
 18.
As the Stingray did not come out until 1976 anything pre 1976 is Fender, from the 1976 album 'Day at the Races' onwards there is Ray usage scattered here and there between P basses fretted and fretless if you listen/watch. 1976 'Day At The Races Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy and Tie Your Mother Down, 1977 'News of the world' We Are The Champions, 1978 'Jazz' Fat Bottomed Girls, 1980's 'The Game' Another Bites the Dust,
I'd be surprised if that's the Stingray on Lover Boy and Tie Your Mother Down. Sounds a lot more like the P to me. I think Deacy's defining Stingray moment is Mustapha. Aleikum Salaam! http://youtu.be/Oq6OoPB5FIM I'm afraid I've only ever really enjoyed the 'ray sound when played with a pick and preferably drop-tuned - it's always sounded a bit too spanky for me when played fingerstyle (I can't stand that RATM tone). I like these: http://youtu.be/dl60yuTJXZg http://youtu.be/zf_oLG-GnpU
 19.
10 years here too. If you want help, "The easy way to quit smoking" by Allen Carr is what helped me.
I found that book so persuasive I considered taking up smoking purely so I could give up.
 20.
Please don't make me go to Ebay! Offers considered, cash or trade!
21.
Sadly not, but that was an ultra cool answer. I did think of Yes's "Into the Lens" myself, where they sing "I am a camera", if memory serves, but had no idea there was this Buggles link to it, or I would've used the same song list but with better reasons!
I was of course referring to 'Into The Lens". ;-)
