So we became The Originals, and we had to change our name as there was another group in the east end called The Originals and we had to rename ourselves The New Originals. Then The Originals changed their name back to The Regulars and we thought well, we could go back to The Originals but what's the point?

[/quote] Assuming it is a Slab on the recording, the fabled Slab sound seems to be in the treblier end of the tone - thumb-plucking at the neck with (presumably) the tone turned down is always going to result in a more trad sound.

I think the key to JE's tone in the Shepperton clip is his Alembic running in stereo. You'll never quite get that sound without running each pickup independently . I used to own a Fernandes Alembic copy and it nailed that JE tone. Why did I sell it? Idiocy, probably.

Mine arrived today. I'm a bit worried I've got a duff one as the drive knob does very little - it seems to act as a volume control until the very last turn of the knob when a heavy (and quite unpleasant) farty overdrive kicks in. Surely this isn't normal?

After watching that video Youtube keeps suggesting other lathe-related clips for me. If anyone else is advised to watch 'Industrial Lathe Accident', best avoid. 😯

[/quote] The Q4 is the bolt-on version. I think they have the EMG btc pre inside. I've owned two of the through-neck models and deeply regret selling them both. My favourite of all the Spectors.

That's not a Legend - it's an NS2000 Q4. Better than the Legend IMHO, an absolutely killer bass!

I always found with every Jazz I've owned that almost as soon as you start to turn down a particular pickup, it vanishes from the overall sound leaving the other one dominant. There was a tiny margin of actual blending. So in my case it was either everything on full or neck on it's own.

Veeeeerry nice... I've seen a few of the two pickup versions but never a single. Let me know if you decide to sell it 😊
