1. Bump for a fellow Dartfordian!
 2.
Trade for a ibanez ATK300 sunburst?
PMd
 3.
I remember that CD, in fact I may still have it. It also had a demo of the bass for an Albert Lee song, as well as Walking on the Moon
And Liquorice Locking playing 'Man with The Golden Arm' on a Burns Barracuda!
 4.
Is this part of your audition piece to be a journalist for them Sorry, couldn't resist - we all get caught out by over-zealous spell checkers from time to time. . .
Ha! I actually typed that on a brand new phone, it's a little more enthusiastic with the predictions than my old one!
 5. Just bought back my old Ibanez ATK - no issues whatsoever, a pleasure to deal with.
 6. I've no experience of the basses but I have traded with Mark on several occasions and he's always been great to seal with. I'm glad these basses are living up to expectations!
 7. Just watched Deep Purple live '84- old Rog played none other than this very bass! Well the same model anyway ;-) GLWTS!
 8. It's riddled with errors but it means well and it's miles better than Bass Player... Plus it's good to read whilst on the lavatory. This month's interview with Fieldy is pathetic in the extreme though.
 9. Well, I've gawn done it. Should be here Tuesday... Bit nervy as I'm going on the strength on the demo video alone but I can always return it if it's that bad. Review to follow!
 10.
...and that sound! That sound! (given the right fingers and the right equipment of course)
This is it. I've never known a fussier bass when it comes to how it's played or what gear it's being used with. But, when you get it right...
 11. I am mere inches away from pulling the trigger on one of these..!
 12.
I used it on some recordings but little point in posting any because there are so many variables, it wouldn't be any kind of definitive benchmark.
I'm sure we'd all love to hear it!
 13.
Not me, mostly I use neck only and the rest of the time both pickups (for songs where I need less cut through). I find the vintage sound far too thin to use in a band setting.....also to my ears it sounds nothing like an early 70s 4001 anyway.
Another example of the variation in Ricks these days - mine nailed the 'classic' tone!
 14.
So that's still 'General Discussion: If its bass or music related ....'
Humblest apologies.
 15.
By the way, in what sense is this thread 'Off Topic' and not 'General Discussion'?
The OP thought they didn't make basses.
 16. I bloody love Geezer, bloody love him. I will therefore diplomatically withhold my views on that instrument.
 17.
Entwistle himself never considered himself as a bass player. A
He certainly did and always appeared fiercely proud of what he had achieved, both in playing style and gear developments. He always referred to himself as a 'bass guitarist' rather than a 'bassist', but that was never meant as a swipe at his chosen instrument or role. As PT said of JE after his death, "He had the power to change the f***ing instrument". And he did, but never forgot his role in the band. For all his extravagance and bravado, I can't think of a single example in the Who's recordings where he doesn't fulfil his role in the band. We were never left wanting.
