1. My soul remains intact... For the time being.
2. I would happily give you my soul for this bass. PM if interested.
3.
Yes, although he says that the night that Never Say Die concert video was recorded was the only time he ever used that Rickenbacker, and he only did so that night because he had forgotten to bring his own bass , which was a custom black and white striped JayDee by that time ( 1978). .
I'm sure Geezer would be the first to admit his memory of that time is probably not as good as it could be... But, the Rickenbacker is all over Never Say Die (the album). It's unmistakable. Ooh, and I've just remembered another one - the red B.C. Rich Ironbird bass used at Live Aid!
4. Blimey, that's amazing! I got a card.
5. The first three Sabbath albums are the masterclass in Geezer-style. It helps that he's right up in the mix too. MoR is still the Precision, we're just not used to hearing P basses with flats being drop tuned to C#, so no wonder it sounds odd! From Vol 4 onwards his tone changes to something warmer and more indistinct - probably due to the ever more complex productions and multi-tracked guitar parts. That said, my favourite Sabbath album of all is Sabotage.
6. So... You were looking for a Westone Rail to be your first bass?
7. Looks like an early Wal to me... At least from the screen grab at the top.
8.
I read somewhere that Precision sales vastly outsell Jazzes. Was a while ago but from memory there was a big difference too.
This has always been my belief. And quite right too.
9. Pleae update the thread title to save poor sods like myself drooling over the bass and trying to figure out what to sell in order to be able to afford it.
10.
It balances good. It does have "The Neck Dive Of Death", being an SG Std. with a Mahogany Body.
Classic Gorgeous bass though. Another Andy Fraser fan here so I would love to own one... For now I must be content to scour EBay for old Japcrap copies!
11. I gave Geoff some money and he gave me his wonderful Yamaha bass. My word, does it grunt! I would feel guilty taking it were it not for the knowledge that he has another one The venue - sunny Tunbridge Wells. Not only do I have a smashing new bass, my rebel credentials have been boosted by parking in the 'permit holders only' area of the station car park. I frighten myself sometimes. Do not hesitate to deal with Geoff - as honest and upfront as they come. Top man!
12. Dave just gave me some money for my Waterstone 12 string - a man's bass, not for the faint of heart. And he got to enjoy the glory of Peckham! What an evening. Sadly it was a brief meeting but it was hassle-free deal and Dave was a pleasure to deal with throughout. Deal with confidence and cheer!
13. The legendary Charles Hayward?! I'll try my hardest to get to this one. Refreshments will be a 3l bottle of Rola-Cola.
14.
Peter only made one of these but I have come across several "Tributes", so may be one of those. Peter said John usually had a rough idea - bit of a dodgey sketch and a bag of bits - litterally. He left Peter to make some sense of it. Having said that, even with Peter's input, that bass has got to be the ultimate "Diver"!
The clot thickens... Horror Hospital was made in 1973 - prior to any footage of JE using the bass that I'm aware of! I can't imagine it being a tribute bass either - it looks spot on to me, and reference material must have been scarce back then. It's hard enough to find decent pics of the bass these days!
15. I love this bass, my school books were covered in it. I did consider putting together my own but the ergonomics decided against it. This bass pops up in one of my favourite films, Horror Hospital. Perhaps Peter Cook made a few, or JE gave it back? http://youtu.be/pL_4qP-CbIA
16.
I have no dosh, but I do have a 1976 Moog Rogue Synth in pretty decent condition I am thinking of moving on.
Very tempting (especially after looking at the Youtube clips) but I need to have my sensible head on at the moment!
17.
put some audio clips on here
I wouldn't have the first idea how to I'm afraid...
18. And now for something completely different... My Waterstone 12 string bass, signature model of Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick. I bought it from Nancy Johnson a few months back, and he had looked after it exceptionally well, as have I - there's not a mark on it, it really is as-new. It's from the first run, #33. Set neck and 34" scale. A very rare beast indeed, I've truly never played or heard anything quite like it - the tone is immense. An incoming baby means I'm having to move some stuff on and abandon my studio (junk room), and I can't really find a place for this in wedding gigs... The bass comes with a Waterstone gig bag, although it's a bit flimsy so I'd prefer not to post if possible. No trades at the moment. I'm in Dartford if anybody fancies a go on it. (The red is a bit brighter than the pics suggest)
19. Very nearly withdrew this after playing it at rehearsal as it sounds so good... But I just can't get on with the body shape. I'll definitely be up for putting some Thunderbuckers in a Fender-style body at some point. But for now... This is still up for sale. It needs to be gawn (see above) so open to offers.
