I can't afford to add that much to a trade anyway, but thanks for the offer.
 2.
Do you fancy doing a deal with me Esh ?
Got a link?
 3.
I thought the distortion on the rick was the bad pickups and the string rattling on the neck?
There is a fair bit of rattle, a combination of action and the way Geddy really digs in at the strings when he plays, but bad pickups?
 4. I do love Mastodon dearly but I struggle with Silverburst finishes... It's a bit like a contemporary Antigua, they'll probably fetch silly money in years to come! It looks good in his hands though. He's a funny sod too. Fair play on insisting there be a 'budget' version too. Jagwire
 5. It still annoys me that the bass player didn't get a solo at the end of the film, whereas everyone else did.
 6.
... and when you've finished looking around and about Denmark St. Don't forget to hop on the Northern Line (for a couple of stops) to Camden Town, and check out 'The Gallery' (Bass Merchant).. Martin, John and Alex will be happy to see you guy's!! Always a friendly bunch and some great gear to try before you buy.. *I am in no way affiliated to 'The Gallery' - just been happy with the service over the years'... http://www.thebassgallery.com/who.cfm
Friendly...! Rudest staff I've ever experienced in a music shop. Seriously. I bought a bass from them which turned out to have a fault - albeit minor - the guy in there mocked my choice of amp and string, saying they were the reason I was having problems with the bass, and then went on to say I was imagining the problem and trying to convince myself it was there! Another time I took in my old Rick 4001 for a setup and some minor electronic tweaking. I hadn't heard anything for a couple of weeks so I rang them and was told they hadn't started work on it because they didn't know what I wanted them to do with it. This is after I had left instructions and schematics when I dropped it off. They will never get another penny from me. Almost Basil Fawlty levels of service. But, they have nice stuff, the only place in London with such a selection I think, so people will keep going.
 7.
aside from basic compression they sort of colour and enhance the tone rather nicely - if you have a nice passive bass and wonder what it would sound like with active EQ on board then just put it through one of these and you will get a fairly good idea soundcheck here and a few up on youtube also
Very interesting Mr Bond...
 8. I'm pretty sure it's: Subdivisions - Rick The Analog Kid - Rick Chemistry - Rick The Digital Man - Jazz The Weapon - Jazz New World Man - Jazz Losing It - Sounds like the Jazz although rumour has it Geddy used a different Rick on this one. Countdown - Rick
 9.

What do these actually do? Not being sarcastic, I really don't know!
 10. My favourite Rush album, and IMHO Geddy's best bass sound - in studio at least. The Rick just blows my mind every time I listen. It's also a good example of the differences in tone between his Rick and Jazz, they are clearly distinguishable on here.
 11.
I quite like Doug Pinnick - I wouldn't let him play my AC with a pick though
Cheers for that but it appears I managed to put the wrong link up as well - should have been this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3hG--gOYsY
 12. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv2JLaT50cY Warning - it's a little blue, but with good intent. I wish I could post videos properly.
 13.
The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. I'm not a fan, but it was the first exercise in the learn to play book I had.
That wa the first thing I learned to play on bass, but only the famous bit at the end. The first actual song I learned was Bowie's John I'm Only Dancing, because it was in the copy of Bassist I had just bought.
 14.
Somewhat official looking pics obtained from an eBay seller who is offering them for pre-sale: Really quite liking that cherry burst Starcaster, but there's something about that Coronado too. Can't wait for them to appear in shops, definitely will give them a bash.
...And the pole pieces line up!
