1. I wish I was a bit closer so I could try this out, I must admit I'm tempted...
2. Man, when I was 18 this was one of my dream basses! Very unique tone, these things. Have a bump on me!
3. Leon Wilkeson didn't play bass on 'Pronounced...' - he left before recording and re-joined stright after. One of the guitarists covered the bass parts for the album. What help that is to the OP I have no idea. That whole album has a fantastic bass tone. I always assumed it was a Gibson, not sure where I got that idea though.
4. Mint, with scratches and fading hardware... Still an extremely beautiful bass!
5. Bump for a really cool bass... Those upgrades make it look incredible. Amazing bargain too.
6.
Go to Halfords, ask them for a used bike box. Go to B and Q get a roll of bubble wrap. Advertise the bass as £30 insured courier delivery, paid for by buyer (that is UK price). When sold, book it in through Interparcel (incuded in £30 is payment for £750 insurance). It's a tough market. Restricting yourself to a tiny part of the UK won't help you. With the greatest of respect, if you want to sell it, you will need to put your back into it. Good luck, Karl.
This. You're really lowering the chances of a sale if you won't post. Beautiful bass btw!
7. Bass now sold... It's gone to a loving home though.
8. I had an NJ Mockingbird for a while, and an Eagle... I found the Mockingbird far more comfy to play, the Eage just didn't seem to hang right at all. The twin P arrangement gives a monster tone, I'm surprised it's not more common than it is.
9. I've just sold my Spector 5 string to Sam. Top bloke, knows his onions and plays for a damn good band to boot. Enjoy the Spector Sam!
10. Sold Chris my Spector Rex. Trustworthy BC'er, great comms throughout and very quick payment. Enjoy the Spector Chris!!
11. *BASS NOW SOLD* I bought this bass brand new in October of last year - it's hardly been played and is in pristine, as-new condition. Honey blonde finish, which looks far better in the flesh than on the Fender website. It's a superb bass, pretty much all I could want in a P bass, but I can't really justify keeping 2 P basses - it came down to this and my Ibanez Blazer, and I can't bring myself to sell ol' faithful Blazer! I think I will regret this but needs must! And I've said it before, but these 50s Precisions just have the greatest necks. This one in particular has a beautiful flame to the maple, very different to the usual plain necks you find in this range. The bass comes with a Fender gig bag as originally supplied. Link to original thread posted when I bought the bass - pics within! http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1821930 Price is £450. No trades at the moment thanks. Collection preferred, can deliver within reason or a courier can be arranged at buyer's expense.
12. NOW SOLD Well good evening everyone! I have only just acquired this bass but almost instantly realised I DO NOT GET ON WITH 5 STRINGS! Will I ever learn? Probably not. Anyway, this is one of the early Korean Spectors, a precursor to the contemporary Legend series but far superior in my opinion. The bass is in near-perfect condition, only one very minor scratch on the upper edge of the body, too small to catch in the photos. Neck totally clean. Tone-wise, it's Spector all the way - thick bass, great sustain and loads of growl. The B is excellent. Pickups are EMG HZ with an active EMG BTS preamp. Through-neck body construction - all maple I believe - with the Spector ergonomic curved body. Price is £280. No trades at the moment thanks. Collection preferred, can deliver within reason or arrange a courier at buyer's expense.
13.
I used to work with a guitarist/arranger who saw the Beach Boys tour early '65 . Glen Campbell was filling in for Brian Wilson playing bass and singing the falsetto harmonies at the same time . Respect !
Interesting quote from Mr Campbell about that period in his life - "I'm not a bass player. I can play bass but I'm not a bass player".
14.
Thanks for posting- but I think this one is not gonna work for me. Not hugely pleasant to my ears. Mind you his clean tone wasn't great either imo
This.Saying that though, nearly every distortion pedal I own has a rubbish demo on Youtube, so this one could still be a winner!
15. I always saw him as more of a percussion player that happened to use a bass. His style is as dependant on muted percussive slapping as it is on actual notes. It's a style and sound I don't like at all, but to Fieldy's credit, it worked extremely well for Korn and inspired a hell of a lot of kids to pick up a bass. As an amusing side note, I once ordered a copy of his legendary solo album 'Fieldy's Dreams', to see if it was as awful as it reputation would suggest (it's worse). Not only did it cost me 1p new, the seller sent me two copies and a radio promo disc. Seems he couldn't get rid of them quick enough.
16.
But sold it again as I didn`t use it in a band, and was far too good a bass to be sat in a case. Probably regret selling that one more than any other instrument I`ve moved on.
My predicament entirely. A very regrettable sale. Fortunately, the current Squier version is excellent!
17. Looks great... Reckon it will be pretty pricey though. You can pick up original SB Elites for very reasonable prices these days. I had one for a while, it was excellent. Wish I still had it really.
18.
When I searched YouTube to check, the definitive version of You've Lost That Loving Feeling by Paul Shane came up, which I'd forgotten about. So it hasn't been entirely in vain. Thanks again.
Baby baBEH!
19. From personal experience... Fender Precision - Ashdown ABM Spector - Gallien Krueger
20.
new Vid! Ricosound demo:
Awesome tone.
21.
As in - the exact same copy duplicated, or two models of bass so similar that the reviews more or less read the same? If it's the former then that's unforgiveable, & a massive breakdown in QC. An odd para yes, but a whole article?
The former!
