1.
They're fine. People talk enormous twaddle about their soulless sonic quality but they produce a nice even spectrum of sounds often requiring no EQ unlike other makes. Particularly underrated are the HZs - the passive models.
This. I love the HZs in my old Spector NS2000 - in fact I probably prefer the tone I get from it to the various Euro Spectors I've owned over the years. They're running at 9v - I've certainly never felt the need to upgrade in any way.
2.
Went looking for more info on this pedal and it looks like Ashdown have canned it. The pedal is in their archive and appears to be no longer in production, link.
Oh dear, this one sounded promising.
3. Wow! And only up the road from me...
4. Further price drop - now £550. It's a wreckin' machine!
5. Done it for years, never had any problems. Why the aversion to down tuning? A P bass in drop D is a brutal experience!
6. I have a longhorn from a few years ago - if this Wild Thing is anything like it (and the hardware looks the same) it will sound excellent. My only qualm with the longhorn is it is inherently quite fragile, and is very easy to knock out of tune. I wouldn't fancy gigging with it, but I love the sound - very aggressive twang, and surprisingly deep and heavy. Drop tuned to C, it sounds immense. I agree they are a little overpriced, but Danelectro seem to produce each line in limited numbers. I had a hell of a time trying to locate a Dano 12 string a couple of years back.
7. [sub]I think I was looking at the wrong issue... [/sub]
8. 1) Starless - King Crimson 2) Crown of Thorns - Corrosion of Conformity 3)Black Diamond - KISS 4)Apercu - Kansas 5)Ritual - Yes 6)Dirty Boy - Cardiacs 7)Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd 8)Unicorn - Gojira 9)Drivin' - The Kinks 10)Lilywhite Lilith - Genesis I would happily get up and play those!
9. This would probably do better in the For Sale section...
10. Agreed, great tone. AFAIK the first album was recorded with an Ibanez Expressionist bass - similar to this one: http://www.guitarcenter.com/In-Store-Used-USED-IBANEZ-TR-EXPRESSIONIST-BASS-TR500-SUNBURST-107796401-i2539576.gc I think the G & Ls came along later. Wish I knew what distortion pedal he used though!
11.
In fairness, the October issue is the best for a ages (I think)...except for the glaring spelling error on the cover .
Ok, I give up - where is the spelling error?
12.
Seems to me there would also be a reasonable market for a slab bodied P-bass a la John Entwistle - given Fenders propensity for coming up with all manner of permutations of things - this surely has to be high up there ? Maybe it will remain an expensive Custom Shop option for the well heeled amongst us.
I've been saying this for years. I bet they would just throw on a standard P pickup though.
13.
My apologies, not intending to disinterest anybody here, mines in need of refurbishment anyway, just thought I'd mention it... Richey
Seriously? Hijacking someone's thread with your own sale? Very bad form.
14.
Well I was given the option of getting a replacement or getting some freebies. I'm willing to take the chance on the amp, I'm sure it's just cosmetic and the warranty will still be in place. So I have got an Electro-Harmonix Bass Big Muff on the way for £0
Great! Not sure you will have much need for a Muff with that head though...
15. I saw a picture of this on Talkbass a few months back, in what appeared to be a prototype stage. I thought it was a wind-up.

17. Well done mate, look forward to seeing it! I've never heard of Loaded TV though, hope it's not some Sky channel I can't get... Ansd it's always nice when a 'name' player turns out to be a top bloke, Bruce sounds quite humble and approachable by all accounts.
18.
It was a great mag. I miss it. I wrote a long and turgid article about my Hamer 12-string bass for the 'my bass is...' feature. I got some bass strings for submitting it. Not a 12-string set, sadly, but what the hey... I managed to have a few nice conversations with Roger Newell who wrote for the mag.
I've always wondered it that was your bass!
