1.
Rolling back the volume also changes the loading on the pickups and reduces the treble a bit. So if your liking your top end a lot a pedal might work better.
This. Anyway as luck would have it I stumbled upon a used lpb1 (cheers Dude!) So I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers for all the suggestions.
2.
+1 for this. Standard practice, I'd have thought; a no-brainer.
Won't be very accurate live though and will probably end up in much twisting of knobs to get back to where I was before. Faffing about is the technical term I think.
3.
EHX LPB-1 maybe?
Now that looks good! Bit worried that the blurb continually refers to overdrive, hopefully it can be used simply a a volume boost... GAK also suggested the Behringer PB 100 - even cheaper - but the tone knobs look like unnecessary extras.
4.
Define "cheap". Pretty much any pre-amp pedal will do that if the EQ is set flat, just boost either the Gain or the Volume to the desired level. Come to that, most FX pedals with a Level control will do it too. Set the FX itself to be neutral and turn up the Level. My favourite work-around is the classic Boss LS-2 pedal. Run a patch cable from Channel A Output straight to Channel A Input (i.e. no actual pedal in the Channel A loop) and you have a very controllable boost pedal. Experiment with the pedals you already own, but which you are not currently using. You may be surprised ...
Cheap... I dunno, less than £50? In my head I'm thinking of just an on/off pedal with a volume knob. I get your point about pre-amp pedals and the like but that seems slightly like overkill as I only need the occasional volume boost, all the other goodies would be going to waste...
5. I'm not familiar with the model so I'm looking forward to seeing the pics! Congrats. Nothing like a NBD.
6. Does the Fernandes run in stereo? Please say it doesn't... Ooh and what is the scale length?
7. In our current set there are a couple of songs that require me to take the solo, but sadly at the moment it they aren't cutting through too well - is there such a pedal available that will give me a volume boost without changing the tone? Cheap and cheerful will do.
8. Wow! I've always been intrigued by these single pickup raptures but have never heard one or been lucky enough to have seen one in the flesh (wood?). Congrats! Let us know how you get on.
9.
He did but I'm not sure it was entirly serious..... It was hilariously pants though.
I'm afraid to say it was deadly serious... Might have been a bit more entertaining had tongues been planted firmly in cheeks.
10. I think popular 'Grumpy Old Man' Rick Wakeman used to be in a band back in the day.
11. Looks like Pete Agnew's Rick from Nazareth. Roger Glover had one with the same mods but his was black. Don't get me started on the shirt...
12. A used Spector Euro. You can get one for a silly price on here.
13. If you can hold out til March I'm sure you'll get one for a good price from Cort at the LBGS...
14. To echo what's already been said... I've never had any problem with Interparcel. I have only used ParcelForce once along time ago and although it went without a hitch I was most dismayed when I found out later about their insurance policy for musical instruments as the lady in the PO had charged me extra for it. Plus, I've read enough horror stories on here so I think they are best avoided.
15.
If you haven't played a festival before, it's great fun - because you can see everyone's eyes - something you don't get playing indoors where apart from the front row, everyone is in the dark. I love playing festivals in the daytime. It's not so 'theatrical' the lights doing very little, but the atmosphere works for me. I hope you have a great time.
This. It really is a wonderful feeling to play outdoors in the sunshine, nothing quite like it. Beautiful pic btw!
16.
Just to clarify, I'm looking for £650 on this. I can't seem to change that top price!?
Sorry mate, post amended. Still a massive bargain!
17.
I know this track but cannot get a handle on what part of it the 'tricky first bit' refers to. Can someone indicate the point in the track where this line occurs (e.g. 1.10 or 3.20 etc). Or write out the dots
It's the bit between the main opening riff and the 'verse'. It kicks off with that quick ascending run. I'm actually pleased to have stumble on this as it's the bit of the song I could never quite get right.
18. It doesn't look much like a Dalek anymore, sadly.
19. I bought Al's Gator pedalboard and power supply. Very nice it is too. I am pleased!
20.
This is why my idea of performing the whole of Styx's "The Grand Illusion" or Night Ranger's "Midnight Madness" has never got off the ground!
I'd go!
21. At least the bass was nice and clear! Top chap Lee Pomeroy throughout by the look of things (although I only watched the first 40 mins or so). I wish he'd used his Rickenbacker for the Jessie J set, that would have been great! Agreed though, most of the acts I saw were pretty horrendous. Just what is up with Paloma Faith's voice? Sounds like it's half full of cake.
22. I've got the magazine - wish I could afford the bass! Mate, it pains me that you're having to sell this. If anyone is considering this, the bass is absolutely superb. Just jaw-dropping.
23.
To answer your question - no! I've just bought one - love it
Any chance of some sound clips?
