This thread is certainly bringing back the memories! When I started playing, the school bass was a sunburst Columbus P copy, with very low action and flat strings. At the time I owned a short scale Eros EB-3 copy so the Columbus felt like a 'real' bass! I struggled with the low action though and thought there was a fault with it (not knowing anything about setups and adjustable action). Looking back, it was probably quite well set up. Incidentally, the school bass amp was a Cougar combo - a 1x15 I should imagine.

I love Spectors. Been considering string one of mine as BEAD too.
"It's ironic that this excuse has been used in relation to Bruce Springsteen, who certainly knows what real health and safety is all about - look at the words of 'Factory' from Darkness on the Edge of Town referring to the toll that factory work can take on the health of blue collar workers. People will now only be able to speculate what the final number should have been. Given that he'd already played Wrecking Ball and that Paul McCartney was on stage, how about Don't let me down?" You ignored the third and final graphs of Mr Myers quote. The ones where he comes across as sounding like a petulant child, having had its toys taken away. The ones where he goes on to add to the speculation that it was Springsteen's intention to continue the performance with no regard to any of the surrounding issues, and ignoring the rights and responsibilities of others, including the hundreds of employees/operatives engaged to work at the concert venue that night. Somewhat surprising, wouldn't you say, for a man who we're told is the friend, and advocate for the rights, of the workingman? Springsteen certainly wasn't showing much respect for others, or right. And it's wonderfully naive of you to focus your attention on one aspect of the decision, as if there would simply be one category of concern for the concert venue on the night. Is Mr Myers also an expert on public order issues? Is Mr Myers also an expert on the working time regulations issues? Is Mr Myers also offering expert comment on the civil and criminal liabilities of the concert organisers? Or was Mr Myers' the knee-jerk defence of an area of regulation which comes in for regular criticism in society, whose comments are biased from his own personal experience and disappointment on the night?
Have you ever taken part in a light hearted thread? I recommend it. This one's quite funny: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/62236-bad-jokes/ Or is that just petty animus? -
Don't know why, but WOW me likey!!! http://www.bassdirec...AX_T_4_Red.html
I was up there a couple of weeks ago. Probably a good thing that Lull wasn't there at the time...

Lovely looking bass.

I would proably consider Yes to be my favourite band, but without Anderson I'm not interested. If he had retired or left the band, maybe that would be different, but to be booted out of the band in such a shoddy way is just an insult. I did have a listen to FFH on Spotify, just out of morbid curiosity, and it was pretty horrible - bland, AOR shiny stuff.
I use a Sansamp followed by a Marshall Jackhammer. Jackhammer does not have a blend but amazingly it still sounds good from low gain (which I currently use) all the way up to heavily dirtorted trebley nastiness! The 2 and EQ and adjustable mid contour/scoop thingy are very useful and versatile too. Plus they're well priced used... I got mine free off a guitarist who thought it sucked (it kind of does on guitar!)
Our keyboard player uses a Jackhammer for a Jon Lord-style, overdriven Hammond sound. It sounds amazing. Otherwise I would pinch it off him for myself.
What about Ricks when you have a separate output for each pickup? Do they still scoop the mids?
Not if you are using the Rick-O-Sound feature, which essentially runs each pickup individually to separate amps. Ricks don't actually have separate outputs for each pickup, but rather a mono and stereo output.

I give it a month.

If you want it to sound like Martin Turner, get some Lull replacent pickups in there - or at least just one in the neck position. They're expensive but worth it, the current Tbird pickups sound very different. It's been on my project list for years. Just need to get a Tbird first...

I love mine. Goes wonderfully with a Spector.
Basically the first six Black Sabbath albums!
Fixed. -
95p? Was that used?
Very much so.

I would cheerfully consider 5 of these to be among my own personal favourites. That man got good taste. Purely from that list, and Geddy's comments, I decided to take a plunge into the unknown and ordered that Fleet Foxes album. Can't go wrong for 95p on Amazon!

John Deacon's amp rig? Do we know anything?
Had no idea, which tracks are fretless Pete?
Radio Ga Ga and I'm Going Slightly Mad were both fretless. Great little bass break in Ga Ga, I always thought it was a synth or something. He also played the fretless live in place of the double bass on '39 and My Melancholy Blues, I believe. -
He's the ultimate endorsement whore!

I think there is a hole in the body under the scratchplate - something to bear in mind if you do consider switching to the clear one. -

I was in the same boat. In the end I decided to just pay a bit extra and got the Neos - I didn't want to have to upgrade again in the near future, which was a potential issue with the MBEs. Didn't really fancy the whole bracing/dampening thing either.

I have one of these that probably needs to be sold to help fund some recent purchases. Threads like this aren't making things any easier for me.

I was, but respectfully 'resigned' last year. I'm still on their artists page though...

I had one for a while on loan. Fun to play around the house unplugged but sounded dreadful through an amp, weedy and thin. I was surprised to see Dave Pegg playing one with Jethro Tull on a DVD the other day, some time around the early 90s I think it was.
