1.
One annoying habit Jools has is mis-pronouncing band's names.June Tabor is on this week with Oysterband, which he keeps pronouncing "Oyster banned" like some weird newspaper headline. It's one word, Jools, with the emphasis on the 'OYST'.Prat!
Radio, Head! M'talli, Cah!
2. A couple more:
3. Here is my 2011 Rickenbacker 4003, in pristine, as-new condition (apart from the 'made in the USA' sticker being removed). It's only ever been played at home, never been gigged. I won't go on about the sound, you know the score. Needless to say, the vintage tone control function is amazing - instant Roger Glover/Machine Head! Comes with the OHSC (also as new) and all the expected goodies - Ric polishing cloth, case key etc. I've just had to cough up some money for a new amp and cabs now I'm gigging again, I know I won't be playing the Rick in my new band so I can't justify hanging on to it. I'm looking for £1250 + postage. I can deliver around the South East if neccessary. I can only upload a couple of pics as they are so big, but if you are interested PM me and I can email them over to you. 4. Silly question, but are you sure it says 'special' on the truss rod cover? If it's a Q4 it should only say Spector - if you squint it could read special... Not that this matters at all, I'm just sure I've never seen a Spector with anything other than the company name on the truss rod cover.
5. Looks like an NS2000 Q4. I have the earlier version with the through neck which originally listed for around £800. You have an excellent bass there Wayne!
6. Front or back of the headstock? As far as I can remember, I've only seen the logo on a Spector headstock - as well as the truss rod cover. The model tends to be on the back, so that should tell you exactly what it is.
7.
Dexy's. Oh dear, oh dear like some very dodgy pub band.
I thought it was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. I saw Tom Jones on here the other week, now that was good! The bluesy stuff, not the bit with Jools playing his trademark boogie piano all over the place.
8. My '79 Precision, sadly now gone, had a rosewood board and skunk stripe. Very dignified looking it was too.
9. You can hear the modified Rick on Who Do We Think We Are? Still very identifiable as a Rick but with a bigger but looser and woolier bottom end. The un=modified Rick can be heard on Machine Head - a far better tone in my opinion!
10. I love Rush. I bloody love em. I'd love to be able to save for a ticket but they'll sell out quickly. And the whole pre-sale thing is a joke.
11. One of the main reasons I don't play 5 strings is because the E never feels right. I don't know why this is, I may be imagining it, but it's something that's always irritated me. FWIW, I don't think Mr Turner was being critical of his instruments themselves, more of the actual nature of the 5 string itself.
12. I briefly had an NJ series Mockingbird - one of the models from around ten years ago, through neck, active, quilted top etc. The tone from the 2 P pickups combined was fantastic. Very, very growly. It's easy to see why Entwistle favoured that combination for so long. Alas the neck dive was a bit of an issue for me and I sold it to a friend who wanted to learn the bass. Probably not the best choice for a first bass, looking back... The current model with the cloud inlays seems to have the same spec. I'd love to get another one day and pop some DiMarzios in it.
13.
I have a 50s P, it's amazing to be honest. Love the neck!
True dat. Best neck I've ever played.
14. Please update the thread title to show it's sold. I would have had this!

16.
No Spectors added to this thread for a while, so here's my recently purchased Euro 5 LX: Bought from DesmondPot a few weeks ago (and owned by a few others on the forum before him) & it's an absolutely stunning bass; really comfortable, sounds awesome & plays like a dream. Always wanted a Spector - if they're all this good I can see why they're so popular.
That used to be mine! I'm not really a five string player so traded it for a Euro 4. Still, the finest fiver I've ever played. Incredible B string.
17.
I have a Wal Pro11 E, can anyone tell me if it will devalue the bass if I get it resprayed ?
Yes.
18. Main basses at the moment: '81 Ibanez Blazer - £150 Spector NS2000 - £120 Basses sold (or due to be) recently due to lack of activity - Spector Euro 4 Rickenbacker 4003 '79 Fender Precision.
19.
Would you like to swap for Markbass Traveler 121H?
It's for sale only I'm afraid.
20. [sup]
Just to totally confirm from the picture is this the square or rectangle version? thanks
[/sup] [sup]It's the original series NEO, the rectangular one. [/sup]
21. I bought Craig's GK 2x12. A fair and trustworthy gent throughout. Deal with confidence!
22. I bought this cab from a fellow Basschatter just a fortnight ago, however I soon realised I couldn't really afford it so it needs to go. At 28kg it's pretty light and very powerful at 600w rms. This is the 8ohm version. The cab is in very good condition with only a bit of very light scuffing to the side and back of the covering. I need a quick sale so will let this go for £280 including shipping to mainland UK. This is a GK glamour shot but it's the same model - I'm struggling to upload any on here but if anyone needs any particular shots of the cab let me know and I'll sort some out.
