1. Looks like one of those ultra-rare Peaveys with the Trace Elliot logo.
 2.
I had it after Clarky and I wish I still had it
I remember when you were selling it and I wish I now had it.
 3.
I would never even contemplate spending that sort of money on any instrument that I could not try out first. I would advise you to do the same. Unless you are a rich millionaire. You are being seduced by a brand name.
When I hear an Alembic, I'm being seduced by the tone.
 4. Just sold a set of strings to Jono. He paid me within about an hour of making the deal, so he gets an extra star for that. Also has the distinction of having possibly the most Scottish address ever.
 5. Just sold my Tonepump pre to Rob. Immediate payment and no problems. A credit to our fine community. Heartily recommended!
 6.
I listened to the isloated bass from Helter Skelter with John playing a Fender Bass VI last week and it was terrible! Sounded awful and the playing was really sloppy.
I think it's great! Perfect for the song.
 7. If I was buying a Precision, this would be my first choice. Utterly glorious neck, my favourite ever.
 8.
What are the differences between the two mate?
I'm no expert (and there are plenty of other threads on here that can go into more detail) but in very basic terms, the RB700 in your link is a classic bass amp design, but very traditional in that it is large and heavy - the MB500 is a lightweight, modern amp that is also very small. It doesn't have as many features as the RB700 but still has that GK tone and growl - I know Lozz196 has one and swears by it. Unfortunately the pictures on the Soundslive website make both amps look about the same size, which they definitely aren't!
 9. Can you be a bit more specific, or post pictures? Aria made countless different models of bass under the Pro II name...
 10. I'm going for the MB500 deal, I need to be able to carry the head around with me
 11. As most of my BC time is spent when I'm at work, hello from Bermondsey!
 12. Mine was a copy of a Gibson EB-3 courtesy of Eros, in natural. Sadly I decided to strip it down and repaint in in the style of Clapton's SG for a project in art college. Never finished it. Not actually sure where it is now sadly. I wish I still had it as I can't really remember what it sounded like
 13.
I always think a stange case is the Uncle Ernie bit from Tommy. Obviously fiddling about with a disabled kid is fine as long as it's under the umbrella of Keith Moon's OTT comedic portrayal.
I don't think it was ever suggested that child abuse was in any way acceptable. In the context of the album, the song represents just one of the many horrors Tommy is subjected to - and it was sang by Entwistle. Moon's portrayal of Ernie as a leering grotesque was obviously played for dark comic effect, but can you imagine Ken Russell presenting it any other way in the context of the film? Despite this, there's no way anyone could think it was supposed to be fine or ok.
 14.
I'm pretty sure it's a 414 that the chap from Karma to Burn plays - a great rock bass, but like others of it's ilk (thinking back to the Jacksons and Charvels of this world) perhaps not going to fit into every setting. Still, I love Karma to Burn, so big thumbs up from me
It was, my old band supported KtB a couple of years back. Can't remember the bass player's name but he was an utter gent, and offered me the use of his Ampeg 8x10 without me even having to ask. I did think though, considering the tone he uses, his choice of the ESP/LTD (not sure which it was) was a little curious.
 15. That's a pity. At least you got a refund though. I wonder if they'll just put it back up for sale - did you tell them it was buggered?
 16.
Cosmo - who is that? I've not heard that in years, great post!
Pulkas. They were around in the late 90s, I saw them live countless times in London. They only made the one album but it's full of that amazing bass tone. I met the bass player Jules once, and as a bass obsessive even then I questioned him and he told me it was recorded with a Status Matrix - a 4-string version of the natural JJ model in an earlier post if pics of that era are anything to go by. He also played a Status Shark and Barracuda late on, both of which I owned in an attemt to get that recorded sound. Never managed it. With my older seasoned ears I think I'm hearing a bias toward the bridge pickup...
 17.
A good point. There's not a massive market for much at the moment! I'd push hard for a deal, on your terms...
This. I reckon the sight of £200 in cash will do it. Let us know how you get on!
 18. If it's a pawn shop, I reckon you could haggle the price down a bit more.
 19. All I know about the Status Matrix is that one of them was responsible for this amazing sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFEcQdG-xX4

 21. Please update the thread title to show it's sold. I would have had this!
 22.
Wow, that was a quick response, less than a minute!!
I find myself mysteriously drawn to any talk of the fabled Slab Precision...
 23.
I was thinking the same thing. Imagine waking up and seeing her hovering above your bed playing your bass.
