Martin Sims - http://www.simscustom.com Based near Bethersden, about 10 minutes outside of Ashford. I used to have 2 Rics (both gone now), but he set up both excellently last year. At the time I went in, he was doing some work with a chap's Ric that he'd couriered from the US for Martin's services. Tell him Iain from Tenterden with the Rickenbackers sent you!
That's good enough for me. I'll send them an email now! Cheers.
 2.
Take it to the Gallery in Camden. It's not that far.
I've had a couple of basses setup by them over the years, including an old 4001. Contrary to general opinion I have never really had good service from them (in fact I find them unhelpful and unfriendly) so I won't be returning in a hurry. Thanks for the suggestion though.
 3. Can anybody recommend a good tech in the SE London / Kent area who has experience of setting up Rickenbacker basses? I've read too many horror stories about exploding necks and things so I would like to take mine to someone I can trust.
 4. I cordially invite you all to make me an offer on this fantastic plum machine.
 5.
Needless to say my eventual party trick was the opening piano part of "Awaken" by YES. (i think it was Awaken - long time ago now ?) That took a lot of practice and many hours speeding up the process.
That I would like to hear!
 6. If the Blazer's in good nick, it will probably be the finest P-style bass you will ever own! I picked one up for £200 a couple of years back and it soon became my number one. Even the ultra-sarcastic tech/luthier I go too was impressed (Aside from a little giveaway on the fretwork of it's budget origins). Gutsy, growly tone- a bit more balls than the usual Precision tone. Probably down to the DiMarzio pickup and heavy brass bridge. No contest between this and the Squier IMHO.
 7.
Hey folks, Hoping they might be a bit crazy like some mex Fender p'ups are.
8. Well judging by the way things are going on here at the moment I may have been a little optimistic with my original price... I need this gone really so I'll drop the price to... £700. I'd call that a bargain... The best I ever had.
 9.
Sunday bump - no P-bass love in the South East or beyond?
There's lots in Dartford, but not a lot of money to satisfy that love...
 10.
I was just wondering if anybody knows what tuning he plays in to go with the monster 8 string guitars he plays with? I was also wondering if anyones heard the jazz album he released? Ta!
I'm not 100% but I think he tuned up a bit - his E string went up to F# for example. This may even have been his bottom string. I have no idea where I got this information from so take with a pinch of salt. This is the guy from Meshuggah isn't it?
 11. Never heard of CJM, but that looks veeeerry nice... Inspired by the Ibanez BTB by the look of it. God bless Cash Converters! All I got was a BC Rich Ironbird!
 12.
Beautiful! Have a free bump! If that's a solid maple Euro 4 then this is as close to a full US NS2 as you can get.... What preamp is in it? Could be an Aguilar - check inside!
Had a look - it's a Tonepump. I probably should put that in the OP... Thanks for the reminder!
 13.
Re tone circuitry, I thinking of buying a VTC for my 4001 c64, it's the only thing that I could do to improve it. Please don't tell anyone on RicResource
Does that have a horseshoe pickup? I always assumed they had the tone cap as they are generally considered the holy grail of Rick tone. Does it sound like a standard 4003 then? I spent a bit of time snooping around the bass forum on the official rickenbacker site - they don't take too kindly to Fender talk! Unless you're being critical of course. It was a scary place to be.
 14.
The V/T circuit is a "nice to have" as well - I dont have it on my 4001 as it didnt exist then, and I would have used it clanking out some Purple riffage back in the day!
It should be called the Glover switch. I usually have my Line 6 on the Marshall Superbass setting, and it sounds fantastically like the old Purple sound - all that's missing is the big speaker fart whenever I hit the open E. Stag and Beedster, I think you're convincing me that I'll regret getting rid of this. For now, WITHDRAWN. Coming soon, in the BC For Sale section, loads of effects pedals and an Orange combo amp!
 15. I've only owned this beauty for a few months and I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm really a passive kind of chap after all. So I thought I would put it on here and see what happens. The bass in question is a Spector Euro 4, in excellent condition bar a few extremely minor marks to the body, two on the back and a couple around the lower edge of the body*. I've always lusted after one of these basses, being a bit of an Eddie Jackson/Rex Brown fan, and this one has 'the' Spector trademark tone in spades - I call it sledgehammer growl. It can do a lot more than this of course, but it's calling card is this wonderfully aggressive raunchy sound, all courtesy of the Tonepump circuit. But as I say, I'm really more into the passive, dirty old school sound so the poor Spector is just sitting about getting lonely. Oh, just remembered - the original owner decided to relocate the lower strap button to the centre of the body for some unknown reason. THe person I bought it from had it restored to the original position and filled the hole - even matched the colour. This is only really noticable if you look for it - I took a picture so see for yourselves. Well I think that's about it... I'm looking for about £650 but am open to offers. Collection preferable but could arrange a courier for about £15. And please feel free to ask any questions, I'm always open. 16. The Gallery's response was a bit shocking.
 17.
Pictures please!!!
They're coming, fear not. Just waiting for a bit of sunshine. It looks just like the one in your profile pic.
