1. Congrats mate, pleased it's finally being shown! But guess what - I don't have Sky...
2.
Chrome modification and knob/socket alteration alert! P
A vision of joy. Well done that man!
3.
....making them look and sound nothing like the originals. Whether or not that's good or bad is in the ear of the beholder. For me it's a bad thing. Wanted one of these for years but this issue has put me right off. A good reissue might have sold me one each of these but alas I shan't be buying. Shame.
I was actually have a dig at Gibson - I suggested they no longer use chrome hardware and pickups because they look and sound good. My point being that Gibson's current TB incarnation isn't a patch on the originals...
4. This will probably do better in the double bass section...
5. Entwistle - specifically the clip of My Generation live at the Marquee.. I was only about 7 when I saw it and didn't actually start playing for another 7 years but that was the point when I knew I wanted to play bass. Cue much (unsuccessful) begging of my Dad to buy me one of those £80 basses they used to advertise in Kerrang in the 80s...
6. Slade Alive - second best live album ever (after Live at Leeds). The 2-disc reissue is excellent. Is there a more under-valued bassist than Jim Lea? I also recommend the Live at the BBC CDs, lots of early material and covers played a bit raunchier than the studio versions. I need to get some Slade into our set.
7. Early Quo - unbeatable. My old band covered Big Fat Mama on our first album - have a listen: That's me in the glasses.
8.
Open to any trade offers!
What he said.
9. Fantastic! Hope there's some live stuff and not just mimes totp appearances.
10. Don't sell the P bass. I speak from personal experience. No matter how good the Thumb may be, and it will do amazing things, but it will never do what the P can do.
I think you mean Sonja Kristina - yes she still fronts the band - we are on tour in the UK April 2013 so check the website - we amy be nearer than you think, and theres a new live album out at the mo - I think this is posted to the wrong forum.. should be in the gig one I think oops.
I've got my tickets for the Beaverwood show booked already, I'll try to come over and say hello!
12. Is it as green as the pics make out? It's got a bit of a Burns vibe to it! Very cool bass.
13. Open to any trade offers!
14. I would love one of these. One day, I will have one. Gorgeous to play, very unique tone - hard to describe, but as everyone else has already said, it sounds 'natural' and very honest.
15. Fair play to Jerry.
16.
. Metal's a funny thing because all it takes to change the category is the vocal style or the guitar tone. Imagine early Korn with death vocals. Itd be doom wouldn't it?
No.
17.
Just read about these in this months BGM, so did a quick search. There is the regular, which has a single coil pickup, and the special, which has a humbucker at the neck, and jazz pickup at the bridge. The clip below is of the special. Just love the sound, especially on the humbucker setting. I thought I`d cured my bass gas, but that sounds soooooo nice!
You have my sympathies. I want one too.
18.
If anyone is considering buying a new one (more likely an HCT than an Icon, which was US market only) then I'd seriously suggest that they start to monitor eBay for vintage violin basses instead. A new HCT will cost you over £500 and remains, ultimately, a Chinese copy. The vintage market peaked in 2009 and then slid badly, so you can now buy a genuine late-60's or early-70's German-made hand-built 500/1 for well under £1000. More money? Not when you take into account the likely resale value later. Same bass? Not a chance. Once you've played the real thing, no copy of a 500/1 will ever really cut it for you.
I would only want one for plonking on around the house and having never played the real thing, a Chinese copy would probably do the job. I can't begin to imagine just how ridiculous I would look playing one live!
19. Which is the 3rd string, the A or D?
20. I'm tempted by one of these... I originally considered on of the more expensive models (Icon?) but probably wouldn't bother for the amount I would use it.

23.
Yeah, design is certainly a bit special. Unfortunately there are not a lot decent quality mid price 32'' basses out there so can't be too picky about the design...
'Special' is putting it mildly... Didn't realise it was a 32" scale though.
