  1. One day I'm going to come and buy one of your basses just because you're so close. Alas, not this time, as me and Silverburst are sworn enemies.
  2. Indeed! He then moved on to ESP/LTD.
  3. I remember these! Late 90s, I think it was? I never got the chance to play one but always loved the sideways knobs. There was a more extreme-styled version as well, and later they made instruments with standard knobs. A good friend has one of their guitars and it's a great instrument.
  4. Nothing Left - Machine Head
  5. Snooze Button - Snot
  6. Mad thought - would it be possible to install the preamps into a pedal, thereby giving us humble SB700 players a chance to get those tones?
  7. The Rock - The 'oo
  8. Sweet Pain - KISS
  9. Paperback Raita - Beatles
  10. I adore the Fugazi bass tone but haven't come close to it with any Rickenbacker or Aria. I've always assumed it was the Aria but frustratingly I just can't get anywhere near it.
  11. The Windmills of Your Mind - Noel Harrison
  12. Good to hear - I've been speaking with Aaron about a replacement for my 700, it seems to be getting weaker. He told me he can make an exact replacement but his more popular option is one with a bit more "oomph".
  13. Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills - Pantera
  14. Drowning - John Entwistle
  15. Red Barchetta - Rush
  16. The Chicken - Jaco
  17. Angry Chair - AIC
  18. Frankenstein - Edgar Winter
  19. Brown Paper Bag - Roni Size
  20. The SB-R60 was basically an SB700 with "standard" string spacing, as well as a couple of other minor differences. I never had them down as budget versions. They have different pickups as well - the R60 has a P-style layout and the 700 (and 1000) has two bar magnets under the cover. SB700 and SB-R60:
  21. Feel Flows - Beach Boys
  22. Reminds me of my old VFE Triumvirate. It's a good idea but I never felt there was sufficient separation between each band of distortion. That was quite a while ago so perhaps the technology has moved on. But, as you say, it all comes down to the flavour of distortion and if it's to your liking. The demo on the Zorg demo doesn't sound good to me but if you're recording with a Dano Longhorn with dead strings there's only so much tone you're going to get!
  23. Plastic Man - Kinks
  24. Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches
  25. In Praise of Bacchus - Type O Negative
