To some extent, yes. I run it in front of whatever preamp pedal I'm using at the time and crank the lows on that fair bit. I only use it at home so it's not much of an issue anyway.

This cheap little thing, eats a bit of low end but sounds just like plugging into an old Marshall. Sounds like heaven with a single-coil Precision.

This wasn't my experience at all, and the vibrato can be adjusted so there's no reason it shouldn't work fine with different strings. I love mine dearly, it isn't my main instrument so I can forgive it's eccentricities. I definitely play it more as a bass though, front two pickups with plenty of palm mute, instant Helter Skelter! Although the back two pickups with reverb is great for Jet Harris impersonations. It's definitely bigger than you'd expect too 😄

I would suggest buying pickup bezels from the designer Tubeampology - the Rick version is, ironically, a rip-off of the design and very much a cheap knock-off.
