1.
i think she gets bashed to much because of the jamerson thing.
Pffftt, outrageous claim she made. Lost a lot of respect from a lot of people I reckon. She certainly did herself no favours.
2. I think it has probably be mentioned elsewhere. "Serious Electric Bass" by Joel Di Bartolo. Though there is no TAB, so you either have to read music (or learn) or use the fingerboard layouts in the book (though there isn't one for every exercise). Hope this helps.
3. I want one of these so bad at the moment! I will own one...some day!
4. Hi Juayman, 12 Bar Blues is relatively simple and to help people grasp a simple understanding of it and some basic Major style riffs you can play, I have published a little "12 Blues Riffs" pdf file on The Bassment. Check it out and see what you think.
5.
Is that the stock passive circuit in there??
It is indeed.
6. Here's my DJ4.
7. Will also consider trades as edited in first post.
8. pic removed.
9. No interest? £750 for a quick sale.
10. I pretty much stick with (and teach) your "2 position" - I would say that's the most common and practical way of playing a Major scale (though the others are also useful).
11.
Neo-Soul anyone? I love it! Erykah Badu D'Angelo Ledisi
That's what i'm talkin' bout!
12. Worth mentioning that interested folk are welcome to come and try it out.
13.
I love the basslines in Jamiroquai songs, particularly Too Young to Die and When you Gonna Learn. Problem is I'm only a beginner in terms of technique and alot of them are quite fast/technical. Are there any you would say are slightly easier too learn?
You Give Me Something, some from the Travelling Without Moving album possibly. I suppose from a beginners point of view they can be quite technical.
14. Sorry to dig this up from the past, but...For those interested in Jamiroquai transcriptions, you can find a few @ The Bassment, including (Don't) Give Hate a Chance, Seven Days in Sunny June etc. Plus there will be loads more added in the future.
15. For anyone reading this and interested in the Spider exercise I referred to, you can find it here: The Spider
16.
( Sorry but i cant find the sharp symbol on my apple keyboard!?!? )
Alt and 3
17. When I was learning I found perseverance was the key to improving my finger strength. I have a few exercises on The Bassment. And i'll be adding a few more next week, including one I saw on a John Patitucci video once, called the Spider. Very good left hand exercise!
18. I find my Sadowsky Metro J5 incredibly bright, so I wonder what the Celinder is like in comparison!
19. Thanks for your responses guys... i'll keep mulling it over before committing!
20. I'm joining the GAS list for one of these. Crying for a J4! I own a Sadowsky Metro 5 and a Lakland DJ 4 at the moment. Considering i'm probably not going to get the chance to play a Celinder before I buy, would you guys who have played/own one say they are heavy? also concerned about the size of the body... Also, the necks look REALLY lacquered. Are they still fast necks? I don't want to believe the hype, but I can't help myself! I'd probably have to look at getting one 2nd hand, as I've read a few horror stories on the net about waiting times on new ones.
21.
Nah, that's a minor 2nd below.
Course. I'm thinking Major 7th an octave lower.
22.
Bb If you want an analogy, think of it in this way... 30 + 2 = 32 30 - 2 = 28, not 22 (the number 30 bears no relevance at all, just used to demonstrate the principle.)
In C Major wouldn't it be B not Bb... (wow, that was a lot of b's)
23.
I hate the way the Yanks do it, 8th notes, quarter notes etc... I've seen it creeping into some guitar mags here, especially in the notes to tabbed transcriptions.
I must admit I prefer the American way, and I think it's becoming more mainstream over here. The terms to make a lot more sense. If some says "quarter" or "8th" or "16th" notes to you, you know exactly what they mean in relation to a bar/time sig.
24. ahhhh, beautiful bass! Tempted myself, but I really need a Jazz for this kind of money. Good luck!
