Ashdown Little Bastard Le, Worth The Extra Expense?
basskit_case replied to basskit_case's topic in Amps and Cabs
Checked this out with Mark at Ashdown, he has confirmed that the LE is British built and the standard edition is built in China. Mark said: "The British one is the LE... with a majority of UK parts, Chassis, Transformers, PCBS, box, etc and built here , tested here, packed and shipped. The others are CHINESE built. " -
July 2010 BGM Mark Gooday 'All Ashdown valve amps are built from start to finishat the companys valve centre located just down the road from the companys head office. We can make valve amps here at the same price we can make them in China. ................... So when you really go down to it, with the shipping, the duty, and the way the exchange rate is fluctuating, not to mention having to unpack everything and retest everything, we made the decision not to send any of the valve amps offshore.
Interesting, thanks for the info. -
I am interested in purchasing a Ashdown Little Bastard Amp Head and was wondering if those with experience of the unit felt the Limited Edition was worth the extra money over the mass produced version? Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere, searched through and couldnt find anything. Thanks

As the title says I am selling my Hofner Violin Bass with matching hofner gigbag. I purchased this from rob_89 October 16th 2010 and it was only three months old then, 6 months old now. The bass and gigbag are both in near mint condition, home use only for the bass. I am only selling because I dont really like the body shape, too narrow. [s]Selling for £330 delivered or £310 picked up. Payment via bank transfer.[/s] Selling for £310 delivered or £290 picked up. Payment via bank transfer. Thanks
These are from the same people who didn't mind selling their comfort strap which happened to have plastic clips that kept breaking and dropping like flies left right and centre, cheaply made in indochina? Well... on that account, would I buy a bass from the same people who cares so little about a selling a strap that could possibly damage my hard earned good quality bass? I would think twice! Which then again explains why so many Bass Collection are found, as you've righlty put it.... knocking around.
Depends on the Bass Collection basses you are refering to, the original vintage Bass Collection basses from the early to mid-nineties are cracking basses, well made for the price that they now command secondhand. I have no experience of the current Bass Collection basses, and it is these ones that are associated with the comfort strap retailer.

Best Soldering Iron for Guitar work
basskit_case replied to basskit_case's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thanks for all your input, I was looking at the Antex Soldering Irons in Maplin at the weekend, will go back in this weekend and make a purchase. -
Hello, Title says it all, interested in getting a soldering iron for Christmas as I would like to be a little more self sufficient when it comes to guitar repair. I have read up on a few different forums, but thought I would post up here as the peeps on here have not let me down in the past! To expand on this slightly, what would you consider to be the key items required for guitar repair? Thanks
