  1. Does that mean your may be for sale?? 😜
  2. I did look at the sires but delivery dates seem very vague! This is a shame as I think I would have plumped for one!
  3. I like the look of one of those Ivy basses… especially if they are from the same factory as the HBs… had a look online, nothing available in this country… will keep looking!
  4. These caught my eye on eBay... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395687604147?chn=ps&_ul=GB&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=395687604147&targetid=2361039923645&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=1006751&poi=&campaignid=21697381820&mkgroupid=170109506289&rlsatarget=aud-1165553645205:pla-2361039923645&abcId=10027101&merchantid=5426806556&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_Lr1cKRPkSHkVGJ3yNHrkEVlr-e&gclid=Cj0KCQiAz6q-BhCfARIsAOezPxli0SGaLZVOCXUuxbAz1zegPm-qaXbt-IYYCKExStikVl906yMYCDgaAhm0EALw_wcB I know they are probably the same as what you get from AE...
  5. I really want to dip my toe into two specific interests... headless and multi-scale... I have never played a multi-scale before - is it relatively easy to adapt? I would also like a headless... I don't want to £2k into a Strandberg... nor £1k into an Ibanez... I'm fickle and likely to sell it a bit later... mainly because if I like it I will want an expensive one and if I don't, I don't want to lose too much money! I saw the Harley Bentons and am tempted... but it isn't headless. I could chop it off (I do like a build project!)... anything else I should consider? The HILS ones are a bit disgusting to my eyes... far too pointy and the scratchplate, don't get me started! Sire's ones are available for several months... The G4M ones look a bit ugly too... I was considering an AliExpress job and have a fettle... there is a cool looking ferrari yellow Dingwall look-a-like which could work... I don't mind the work to chop off the headstock and convert to headless... Anything else anyone could recommend?
  6. That is true - I have been looking at the B axis pups - I had a pair on a Sei Jazz I had years ago and they nice and silent. Although I think i am going to try a full shielding first before I change the pups. I would much rather keep the bass as is... I will do a couple of noise floor tests - a before and after and hopefully post some results! Be a worthy test.
  7. @Hellzero do you really thing it will make much difference? I have some copper tape so could do this if you think it would fix it... Do you mean preamp cavity only or pup cavities as well?
  8. I have a lovely Atelier Z DAL-5 which has the Atelier Z JBZ-5 pickups installed. I have changed the preamp to the Sadowsky on board as I wanted a passive tone control and as the pups are single coils, I do get a tiny bit of noise (well they are single coils!) when pups are isolated. In a normal gig situation it wouldn't be a problem, but I do a lot of theatre work and I notice it more and more these days. So, I can't afford to splash out big, but what would be a good pair of noiseless hum cancelling pups that you fellow BCers would recommend? I don't want to get rid of the original pups, but I would like something quieter for the kind of work I do. Any recommendations?
  9. Fair play - they have already been sold! That was quick!
  10. I'm selling my Stomp currently in the classifieds and am looking to sell the Vintage Synth Pack that I bought from Ian Allison. Would this be allowed in the classifieds? Obviously if I have no stomp I have no need for the presets so I would prefer to sell them... Does anyone know if this would be allowed in the classifieds?
  11. Line 6 HX Stomp for sale - boxed and pretty much as new. I have put some rubber feet on the bottom, these can be removed if needed. Comes all the bits as new, PSU, USB cable and gumph. something has come up so £400 plus p+p for a quick sale… will include postage this weekend for a quick sale! I picked this up a few weeks ago and no matter how many multi fx / amp sims I go through, I seem to revert back to analogue separate pedals. To be honest I only really need a chorus and an octaver so this is far beyond what I need. I don't need to tell you about these, amazing sims, effects, IRs and parallel processing in the HX edit app, I will de-register this when it is sold. No marks or scratches, only a few swirls on the bottom from the previous owner who bought it new. I will do a factory reset on this before it goes. I am only looking for what i paid for it - £425. This is pretty fixed as it is boxed and pretty much new. As I side note, I purchased a some presets for this unit, specifically the Ian Martin Allison Vintage Synth pack which cost me £40, plus another synth batch of preset from Chad Carouthers, another online bass / synth bloke which cost me another £10. The Ian Martin Allison ones are really good and well worth it, the Chad Carouthers ones not so much. I will be happy to sell these one with the unit for an additional £20 if the buyer wants them. If not, I will put them up for sale in the classifieds if that is allowed. You can check them out here: https://ianmartinallison.com/store/vintage-synth-pack https://www.instagram.com/ianmartinallison/reel/C5ylw1zO7Co/?hl=en-gb https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lz02CvQ42U The presets have been sold I'm afraid so the unit will be sold as it comes from the factory. Postage via RM Tracked 24 with additional insurance, should be about £5.

  12. Thanks for this reply - I purchased the vintage synth pack and you are right, there are some great sounds in there. I noticed some others which were by Chad Carouthers - a lot cheaper but IMO, nowhere near what Ian has. To be honest, the 4 sounds in there will give me everything I need so I am quite happy... there were a little pricey - £40 for 4 presets but it will save me a ton of time experimenting to get close and with pedals, I kinda want in now rather than faffing around too much.
  13. Hi… very new to the helix fraternity with a hx stomp… been looking around at presets until I can get time to really look at building my own sounds and I came across the Ian Allison presets - very expensive and some research tells me they aren’t worth it (not my opinion!) I came across Jon Willis’ website dr tone which seems to have similar stuff available for a free download! Unfortunately, the ones I wanted don’t seem to be there! It’s the synth pack: https://drtone.theblackcreekband.com/preset/synth-bass-pack/ it would appear the download link is broken, I have contacted him and waiting to hear but I wondered if anyone else had these presets that they fancied sharing? it seems to be a great resource and well regarded, and best of all, free! The presets from Ian Allison do look good but $50 for a few presets seems a bit of the high side… but that’s my opinion only… can anyone help? Would also be grateful of any advice for building a faithful synth bass sound? 80s synth bass (think I wanna dance…) There seems to be lot of videos online of demos, so I know the unit can do it… just need to figure out the best approach!
  14. This has been asked in a few PMs... Nut width (edge to edge) is 45mm String spacing is 18mm. I have attached a sound file of the bass (completely raw, no EQ or processing) sounds are as follows: 1 - both pups flat EQ 2 - front pup flat EQ 3 - rear pup flat EQ 4 - both pups bass boost 5 - slap sound both pups flat EQ 6 - All both pups, first bit is active, 2nd one is passive, 3rd is passive tone open, 4th is passive tone rolled off. The main point of this is to highlight the fact that the Glock pre basically has the same output in both passive and active modes, the active being more 'zingier'!? This makes switching between passive and active very easy and simple gig wise. RSD Bass.mp3
  15. I used this last night and it is a great bit of kit… I’m a bit annoyed at dipping my toe in the helix world as it means I have to sell this… anyone interested??
  16. @whentbass thanks for the positive comments - compared to other basses in this price range it certainly is up there in terms of bang for buck. I'm really torn on letting it go but needs must!
  17. completely agree - a great bit of kit for not much money. Its also unusual to find one with the original PSU and box as well… every one I saw when I was looking was RAF and no psu!
  18. Headrush MX5 in immaculate condition - boxed with PSU and all bits. I got this recently and 2 weeks later, a friend of mine who has far too much gear and too much money basically hands me a HX Stomp at too good a price to pass up so I have plumped for it. So unfortunately, this has to go to make way for it. It's a great bit of kit, very easy to build rigs on the touchscreen and doesn't need a PC connection to get the most from it! It can do parallel processing, you can re-arrange the order of stomps / IRs and amp sims and everything sounds great. I just have to scratch the Helix itch! Having the built in volume / expression pedal is a bonus and I will miss that, but needs must. There are load of videos on t'net about it, but not much about bass applications. However, you can download your own IRs and install them very quickly and easily (I'm happy to share a few or lave the ones I installed on there) and it does has the Ampeg SVT IR as a factory install plus a few other goodies. Around £400 new - will chuck in delivery with the asking price.
  19. Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler. Basically a load of stompboxes in one package. Loads of great modulation effects, drive fx and filters and some great synth stuff as well. I'm moving towards a more 'one unit' package so this needs to go. In great condition and working order, boxed with original PSU. One picture makes it look like there is a problem with the display, this is not the case. All works fine. Collection welcome or postage should be only a few pounds.
  20. Price reduction to £125 plus postage for a quick sale anyone?
  21. Bumping this back up - a change of situation means this is surplus...
  22. Hi all, a small lack of funds currently means this little beast is up for sale. Sadowsky (RSD) Metro Express (chinese manufacture) in Candy Apple Red - excellent condition all round (minor paint swirls on the rear but no dents or dings) and a really versatile bass! Just checked the weight and it is 4kg bang on. Just come out from an extensive theatre pit run and it sat beautifully in the mix (even the keys player said how nice it sounded!). A few modifications on this one (although I would call them upgrades!) - I have changed the ugly RSD - Tesco express logo for a waterslide decal showing the Sadowsky Metro Express logo (see pics - the rear serial and details are still intact). This was done by myself (very carefully) - see the thread below. This is my fretless ME, and I got the fretted one after this and did the same process. It is sealed in with a satin poly and looks great IMO and a positive change to the bass. The preamp played up a bit early on so I replaced it with a Glockenklang 2 band EQ with passive switching and tone control. This was the main thing I didn't like about the preamp - no passive tone. You could switch into passive mode but no tone control. At the time I didn't have the cash for a Sadowsky pre with VTC but I understand this is also a positive upgrade. I really like the Glock preamp though, it has the cut and boost advantage over the VTC pre on the EQ and it is really transparent rather than the coloured sound of the Sadowsky. The pickguard is simply a carbon vinyl wrap so can be easily removed. Comes with the soft case (really good quality) and the strap locks and bits and pieces. For the money - this is an excellent bass. I'm not sure I would spend 1K on one of these, but this urinates all over a Squire and IMO, is more that equal to a more expensive Sire. I will miss this but needs must. I will certainly look for another one in the future! Possibly a black one to match my fretless! I can post - would probably be around the £15- £20 mark. Price is fixed and cash sale only I'm afraid. If it doesn't got for the asking, I'm quite happy to keep it.
  23. Is it the last two digits are the year of manufacture?
