  1. Yep.... Will add some shortly...
  2. Moving on my Lakland 55-02 in Pearl White. This is a 2018 model, but pretty much as new. I'm just not getting on with the 35" scale and the neck isn't as slim as my Sei so it just isn't getting played. Time for it to go to a better home! Tonally so versatile, especially with the MM/J combo and various coil options, it annoys me that it just doesn't 'fit' me. 😣 The pearly white paint looks great and definitely has a shimmer which doesn't come across in the pics - (credit BD). I will add some more tomorrow when I get a few mins and will try to capture this. It really does look great. Anyway, I bought this from Bass Direct in December (have proof if needed) - aiming just to reclaim what I paid. As a sweetener, I may be tempted to chuck in my GruvGear sliver gig bag for the right deal... otherwise I will source a gig bag for transit. I can post - will be around £25, will be boxed and in a gig bag as I mentioned. Trades are welcome, same value or I could be tempted to add some cash for the right deal. Jazz type 5s are welcome, as are most things for consideration. Spec's: Lightweight Swamp Ash body Maple neck Maple f/b - 35" scale Pearl White Lakland pickups active 3 band eq Weight: 4.5kg (from what I could muster!) A Lakland Quad Coil hum bucker (bridge) and a dual-coil (neck) are teamed with the same 3-band active Lakland LH3 preamp used in the US-made 55-94 to let you dial in an incredible range of tones. 3-way toggle splits bridge pickup coils for increased tonal range. It has that deep Lakland cutaway on the high register side of the neck that allows easy access to highest frets for throwing licks on top of your grooves. Lakland Skyline luthiers now do their fret work using Plek technology to assure optimum playability. Plek is a CAD/CAM machine with scanning capability. It was developed to perform high-speed, highly accurate fret dressing, nut and bridge slotting and shaping, and engraving work. When used by an experienced luthier, the Plek machine produces necks with fretwork and action that equal the very best handwork and does it consistently.
  3. Trades?? Any interest in anything specific...
  4. Given the situation, is delivery an option??
  5. Received mate - absolute star! Thanks for that, much appreciated!
  6. 🤣🤣🤣
  7. They don't generally have a lot of use do they?? 😁
  8. Diamond - can you send to my work? Carl Simmonds, East Norfolk 6th Form College, Church Lane, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. NR31 7BQ. Are you sure about costs? I can ping you some money across...
  9. I seem to have an abundance of these I'm afraid, very grateful for the offer though...
  10. That would be great - are you able to post? I can organise and pay for collection by Hermes if that helps....
  11. You absolute diamond... it really would go to a good home hopefully inspiring the next generation of poor, out of work music producers who give up and work at B&Q.
  12. Hi fellow basschatters... I am after your old tat or anything you might have laying around that you don't want. Basically, I teach at a 6th form college and deliver the A level Music Technology course. I am trying to put together a bunch of 'historical artifacts' related to music technology. Microphones, effects, old multitrack machines (ADAT, DAT, MD etc.) mixers etc. Anything that you may have poking around at the back of the garage which has long since been forgotten about. Broken is fine, as some of it might be pulled apart for demonstration purposes, happy to pay postage and can organise collection if local. I have been given some stuff so please don't get annoyed if I say thanks but no thanks. The idea is to have a table full of old tech which I can use in class. It is surprising how many young people have never seen a tape deck! I would be willing to find some money for the right bit of kit within reason. So, if you have anything you would like to donate, pop me a PM or reply on this post. It really will be going to a good home and worthwhile use. Cheers! Carl.
  13. Last nights gig... played a 4 string bass for the first time on a gig in 20 years... always play 5... only did it as I was considering buying one. Now - not so sure... so much more work on the hands, i forgot how much more versatile that extra string makes a bass. What to do...
  14. But what if the bass you absolutely wanted was only available as a 4???
  15. As i suspected, a range of comments with me none the wiser! I have a gig tomorrow night and am borrowing a 4 string sterling stingray (the cheaper copies) to see how I feel. I know I can adapt to a 4 string with no issues, my biggest worry is will I miss the low B... will report back.
  16. That is my concern exactly...
  17. Posted this on another thread but didn't get much response so am trying here... I have always been a 5'er kinda guy... can easily adapt to a 4 and have done many a time but every bass I remember owning (apart from my first 57 reissue precision) has been a 5 string. I have a Sei Jazz 5 which I love to play and I currently have cash burning a hole in my pocket after a recent sale. Nothing on the classified grabs my attention. I have always loved a Stingray... I have lost count how many SR5s I have had over the years and every time I sell one, I get another a bit later because I miss 'that' sound. when it has been a while, you plug one in and say... "that's why I have a Stingray!" My current gig type doesn't really require that sound, however, I still want one. Basically I know of a 4 string Old Smoothie for sale with someone I know and as the Old Smoothie is less zingy than the modern Stingray, I am seriously considering one although I wonder if I will miss that low B. I do use it, but I reckon I can do without it. Or could I? Anyone been in a similar predicament? I'm so torn... the Old Smoothie looks and sounds great, it's a playability thing for me. Will I lose that adaptability I have with a 5? I know some people will say it's personal preference, just wanted some opinions before a pull the plug - or don't!

  19. A helpful hint of I may... Get yourself to Halfords and ask for a bike box from their rubbish. Preferably one that hasn't been broken down. A Stanley knife and a roll of packing tape, Bob is you mother's brother. Takes a bit of fettling to make it fit but I always find the cardboard is tough and makes a nice strong and well protected box. From a fellow overwater fan.
  20. Musicman Stingray 5 Classic. Natural with maple fingerboard and John East MMSR 3 band pre-amp. I love this bass but a recent Sei purchase means this is not being used and I could do with a cash injection at the moment. It pains me to do it as I have been after a classic 5 in this finish for years but needs must and a house renovation calls.😭 anyway, enough of the sob story... I blame @bubinga5 for selling me his Sei! He should have known better... in excellent condition, no major dings or knocks or anything, comes with the original Musicman hard case. i bought this from Moonbass for £1350 and am just looking for my money back, it is worth that considering list price and the preamp as well which has the swept mid control... Gorgeous birds eye maple neck, laquered, lovely to play and has that sound. I hope Moonbass doesn't mind me using his pics. Will get some more uploaded asap. i am happy to consider trades... A normal Stingray 5 would be welcome, as would a lakland or something similar with a SR style pup at the bridge, 5 string basses only. I need a cash injection of around £450 if that helps. Offers are welcome but cash sale it has to be £1350 and this is firm. Can post / courier fully insured at buyers cost, should be about £25. any comments are welcome!
  21. I will second this - Andy was a diamond throughout and did everything he could to rectify the situation.
  22. Bought Andy's Sei recently and despite some initial confusion with specs Andy did everyy in his power to get the problem sorted. An honest and admirable BC'er who I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone for a positive transaction.
  23. As the buyer of the Sei, it wasn't an issue with the j-retro itself, for me the format of the setup was something I couldn't get on with (primarily the lack of pup blend in both active and passive modes) - anyway, Andy was a top bloke and we got it all sorted. I would like to reiterate what Andy says about John - I had numerous discussions with him about fitting the uni pre and he gave me loads of advice as well as supplying a modified version to fit the Sei. Anyway - its a great bass, amazing preamp and John is probably one of the nicest guys to deal with out there. As someone else earlier mentioned, he is da bomb!!
