1. Overwhelmed by the generousity of BCer's so far... thanks to everyone who has donated to date! Dmccombe7 Harryburke14 Keeponehandloose Plus a couple of anonymous donations as well! Thank you all so far - it is a great cause so keep 'em coming!!😀
2. Hey everyone... I need a little favour from every BC'er who has a little generous spirit! In April, I'm running the London Marathon for charity - Macmillan Cancer support to be more precise. Running 26 miles is going to be quite a challenge for a slightly tubby bass player from Norfolk country and I'm looking for all the generous spirited bass players who would be willing to spare / sponsor a few measly pounds for a very worthwhile charity - one very close to my own heart. I'm pretty sure we all know someone who has either directly or indirectly affected by Cancer and Macmillan provide essential support to those in need. Anyway - I know many of you don't know me directly but I have dealt with many kind folk here on Basschat so some of you might remember me. I'm not asking for a lot - a couple of quid, a fiver or whatever you can spare would be very much appreciated in my quest to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan. My VirginMoney just giving page is here: http://uk.virginmone...lsimmondsLM2017 I can't offer anything in return apart from my wholehearted gratitude - if I can repay the favour with a dep gig for free (travelling within reason!) then I will do my best! If you don't feel like sponsoring - I completely understand - feel free to leave a message instead!
3. Moving on my Squire VM (Vintage Modified) Precision 5 string - a great bass and it's only moving on as I am clearing stuff to make way for a new build / purchase! It is in immaculate condition and these are £340 new on GAK - bought from Pluckedout on here so am just aiming to reclaim my cash! £200 firm for one of these is a lot of bass for the money! A lot of people buy these then upgrade various components and you almost have a US fender for a lot lot less! A great player, really easy to play and in great nick (no dings or marks, it has barely been played to be honest) - it won't disappoint anyone. The build quality is fantastic and there a lot of discussion on forum sites that discuss how good these basses are. Stock photo at the moment - will add some more tonight when I get home but you will get the idea. Exactly the same as the image. Happy to post - £20 via UPS/InterParcel.
4. Have PM'd you a couple of times mate - did you get them?
5. Laurie bought my pedal - easy transaction and a pleasure to deal with. :-)
6. Alberto also bought a Stingray from me, arranged courier to Spain and gave me a hassle free transaction. Feel confident that he is a gent to do business with.
7. Yep... several times. Had to replace the output jack socket and double checked everything (wiring, pup height etc)... I didn't really like the sound of the stock pups anyway - in all honesty, I don't really like the sound of a p-bass - it's just they play great!! So, emgs got good reviews and comes with replacement everything which is what appealed to me. Just got this issue with the scratch plate... It loooks as though there will be a gap either side of the BEA pup when the emg goes in - the DG side should be ok. Are the 4 string p bass scratch plates the same size as the 5 string?? If so, I can modify the neck pocket slightly to fit?? Or is there anywhere I can get a blank one with no pup holes at all?? Anyone encountered this??
8. Hi all, I have a Squire VM 5 p-bass and whilst I love playing it, the tone doesn't excite me at all. I don't think the tone pot is working that well and I hate the drop in output level from my other basses. Anyway... looking around and not wanting to spend the earth (it is a cheaper bass after all, I plumped for the EMG P5 pickups which arrived the other day. Easy to install I thought... Until i looked more closely at the sizes. Drastically different to what is already in there (I know I should have checked!!) the P bass has a longer pup for the BEA strings and a standard size one for the DG strings. EMG seems to have squeezed the longer BEA string pup into a standard size one instead so I will be left with a pretty big gap next to the BEA pickup from the scratchplate. So - anyone else had this?? How did you get around it? Can't seem to find one to fit online and can't find a blank pre-cut one so I could cut holes just for the pups. Do i buy a sheet and cut from scratch? If so, whats the easiest way to get the chamfered edge? I have a hand router and am quite good at that sort of stuff but the chamfered edge seems to trouble me though. Any thoughts anyone?
9. For info, location is north end of Lowestoft in Suffolk (just off the A12). Weight wise, I don't have a way of accurately measuring it but on the bathroom scales it appears to be somewhere around the 9 / 9.5lb mark... pretty standard for a Stingray i believe unless you are lucky enough to come across one of those uber light ones!
10. Pictures don't look the best are can't portrait them... pm me if you would like them emailed...
11. Moving on my lovely Musicman Stingray 5 with maple neck - gorgeous player (not me) and unfortunate circumstances force the sale. Black body and black pick guard, typical 3 band eq in VGC. There is some slight hairline marks on the paint which shows up in some light but there are no dints or marks on the body. Slight swirling on the pickguard but nothing to write home about. I will give it a restring with some slinkys for the new owner and it comes with the original musicman hard case. It's a great bass and has served me well but needs must unfortunately... Can offer postage (will get a definite quote but should be around £20 insured) and the price is £995... I will say that this is definitely negotiable although I am not in the market for trades I'm afraid. Shout me with offers (within reason!😀)
12. DHA VT1-EQ-Di-Bass MK2 - Valve Preamp Pedal - all hand wired and lots of preamp goodness to experiment with. The only reason I am selling it is that it just doesn't get used. The main reason I have it is for one key gig, but that venue is now using Kemper profiling amps so this has sat in it's box for the past few months. Only used a handful of times and pretty much as new - no marks, scratches or scuffs. Comes with the PSU and the manual and information is downloadable from Dave's website. http://www.davehalla...uk/page53a.html I love the hand built look but it is each to their own but this is a great sounding and extremely well-made pedal. 3 band EQ with swept mid, various sound colouring options and it also has an ipod in/headphone out rehearsal option which is useful. This boutique pedal is £170 new and barely used... save yourself quite a few quid of the new price and having to wait for a build as these are made to order. Happy to post - will be well packed and will be by registered post. Should cost £7 but if someone buys at the asking I will post for free.

14. M-Audio Oxygen 25 MIDI Controller Keyboard in excellent condition and working order. USB powered with loads of encoders which can be programmed. No box or cables - can be seen working via pics... £35 delivered!!
15. Received a bass from Joe, prompt and well packed! Recommended to all BCers!
16. These are about that (without shipping) on their website... How fixed is the price???
17. That is a good point... i think it would be a straight decision between bass and divorce!
18. I don't know if the seller is after another 5 string stingray! But yeah... thats kinda what I am after!
19. Right.... Bit of a weird one.... I have a stingray 5 in black with a maple board. Lovely bass and it looks great! But, I played a friends rosewood board SR5 the other and realise how much I like the rosewood board on this bass. I can't pinpoint what it is, but I just think I prefer a rosewood board. So, does anyone with a SR5 with a rosewood board fancy a change to a black one with a maple board?? Pop me a shout... I will post pix of mine... Lovely condition, no marks or issues, comes with the MM hard case. I particularly like the natural finish ones but am not too fussed about colour... Whatever may come up. Get in touch!! Carl.
