Got a pedal from David - exactly as described. Thanks and well recommended!

I have owned 3 stingrays in my time... each time I move one on, I miss not having one and get another. In short, I know exactly what you mean although I haven't had as many as you! I went through overwater, sei, and a couple of others before realising that a Stingray just does it - no questions asked! I think discreet said it best - we forget how much of the tone comes from the players and that eternal search for the next bass should be better spent practicing!! If i had all the hours spent searching BC and online music shops into bass practice hours - I would be Victor Wooten!! Oh well... back to the classifieds...
I've been doing iem only gigs for years. The mxr m80/81 is great, transparent, and the eq can be incredibly useful. The hartke bass attack is good, and works really well. It has the classic hartke sound on tap, and has an effects loop too. Behringer make a clone of the sansamp bddi, it's pretty good as long as you can get on with the ampeg tone. Edens wtdi is great but the gain is VERY sensitive. I own all of these and have used them all in anger. My first choice is always my mxr m80. Very versatile, and has a separate drive channel, which can sound awesome with judicious use of the blend control
Thanks for that - I was considering the MXR as well - a m80 also appears to have the over drive function whilst the 81 has the swept control... decisions!

I did consider the microbass as I previously had a hd350 and downsized to a reidmar... They are quite expensive though as you say... Is that recommended then??? Eq wise... I think a 3 band swept mid would be desirable... Not worried about compression and distortions would be good but not essential... Haven't used one like this so would appreciate any recommendations...

Yeah I had a read through this post previously - I'm not a metal player and most of the things I do is theatre work and function based work so I guess I'm looking for something as versatile in tone a possible. Any other thoughts??

Hi guys... I reckon this would have been covered before but would appreciate some opinions.... I mostly do IEM gigs these days and DI without backline... I have never really been happy with the sound and was hoping that a preamp with a bit more tonal capabilities will help. A student of mine has a B7K dark-glass pedal he is going to lend me to try out (I think he uses it just for distortion) but that is a bit prices for me atm... Can anyone offer any other suggestions?? I was looking at the Eden WTDI - good price at thomann atm, and looks like a solid piece of kit. I'm not that fussed about modelling so don't want to go down the line 6 route (never been too impressed) but a speaker emulated output could be good. Must have a balanced output for DI... Anyone offer their thoughts on this??? Cheers! Carl.

Just completed a swap with Derek - he posted his Stingray to me and I sent on my Warwick to him - great guy to deal with - no issues at all. Thanks for everything!

I am looking to move on my beloved Warwick Corvette 5 $$ (Double humbucker pickup config) as I am longing for another Stingray 5! This is a special edition model, no 17 of 42 produced in 2009 and I have been it's main owner since new. The body is a special edition made up of half swamp ash and half zebrano, 24 fret neck with the standard bubinga neck (i think...) 2 MEC humbucker pickups and 2 band EQ give a variety on tones and it has a pickup selector control and main volume (obviously!). Comes with the deluxe Warwick gig bag and the canvas case which holds all the lovely warwick accs which should all be there (apart from the spare strings) but i will restring with a new set of Ernie Balls... Its a great bass and a great player... i got rid of a Stingray 5 and miss it so much that I will have to sacrifice this one as I can't afford one! That would be my only trade option really... unless someone has a bolt on Yamaha TRB5 with some cash going... and I am really looking for a natural finish stingray with the ash body... ping me offers if you fancy it! Price is £995 and negotiable... it what it is worth to me but I am not that stubborn, especially in the current financial climate. So feel free to hit me with offer. I can only say no! It is in immaculate condition and certainly won't disappoint anyone... Prefer a collection / exchange as would be reluctant to post. I am near Norwich on the east coast but would be willing to travel for the right deal. Carl.
