What is the guitar focussed rig you're running? I use a Line6 POD Go for all my bass modelling / effects, so if you have something like that then running a guitar/bass set up is as easy as switching between presets.

This. And any other shop that has a decent selection of basses.

Quitting the band goes through my mind quite often, this isn't helped either by the depression or the bell-end of a singer. The annoying thing is that getting into a room to make some noise is therapy for both (at least while the bell-end singer is singing, he's not talking).

Apologies, I assumed that it was the "old" style bridge, however, it does look as though there is a small amount of space under the E string saddle. You could try to drop that to lower the string height.

You don't show any pictures of the bridge/saddles. Have you adjusted the grub screw on the bass side? It does need an imperial set of allen keys, but they are well worth having if you own a Ric.

Another vote for an RM500. Isn't there a Fender Rumble 500 head? Know they do the 800 head.

I've tried that, but it just doesn't sound quite as good as with the circuit disengaged. It's always better when you roll off a bit of volume on the bridge pickup. IMO of course.

Was it just the sound, or was it something else that made it a PoC? I've tried the "Vintage" circuit on my 4003 a few times, and it really does the the "guts" out of the sound. Pop it back to the standard circuit, and there's loads of "body" in there.

Have you tried it without the Bello pedal? If you can't live without the pedal, maybe something like a noise suppressor pedal might work? There's always either the RWRP wiring on the bridge pickup (TalkBass thread) or get something like the Nordenbocker.

I was considering getting a HX Stomp a while ago, but always felt that it was a bit too much for what I would really use, but also that it only has 3 footswitches, which would make it a bit limited for live use. I bought a POD Go instead, most of the functionality, most of the amp/cab/effect models, plenty of footswitches. Yes, it is "compromised" in comparison with Helix/HX, but it is an ideal bass player's tool IMO. Definitely worth considering.

Maybe? I would say that it really depends on what you want to do with it. Will you be wanting to use the amp/pre-amp section or just the effects? If it's just the effects you're after, then look at the HX FX.
