  14. Absolutely this. Start with a blank canvas every time, exactly as you would with a new amp/cab & effects setup. It is a fair bit of "tweak time", but it's well worth it.

  23. Got to agree with @BigRedX, and say that you need to work on a sound that works for you and/or the band/musical project. Try and approach building a new sound as if you've just got a new rig. Find an amp/cab sound you're happy with, tweak it till sounds how you want it, then start adding effects. If your core sound isn't right, then you're not going to be happy until it does. Adding some IR's might help getting the sounds you're after. Bought some Celestion IR's, and they've made a massive difference.
