  2. 80's: Wal or Steinberg 90's: Warwick
  3. Why not hang on and find something that you do like the colour of?
  4. It is all subjective of course. My preference has always been to play original material over covers. Don't mind doing the odd cover, but always think that there's more scrutiny on people playing covers, cue the "you played that bit wrong", "they didn't play it like that on the album", etc. comments (usually from the guitarist). But, I do like the challenge of coming up with a line that compliments the song, and adds something else to it as well. I can see the gratification of playing covers, especially when gigging. Playing music that people know and will react to (whether you play it "correctly" or otherwise), is part of the reason why we do what we do. Can't really say more than that.
  5. Line 6 POD Go.
  6. The Trees - Rush
  7. Script for a Jester's Tear - Marillion
  8. I'm intrigued to know whether @thebrig was offered a position in either band. Good luck to anyone looking for, or trying out for a band. As @Happy Jack put it, in the main, you're dealing with flakes and fantasists. Bloody musicians.
  9. Not a fan, don't see how much good they'd be when recording a song with tempo changes. In this day and age, it would be far easier to DI guitar & bass when laying down a drum track, so that there's no spill, and then overdub later. If your DI has amp & cab modelling capabilities, even better. Must admit to being in the school of thought that using things like click tracks and recording each instrument individually takes something away from the "organic" feel of a group of people in a room, making music together. I appreciate that a recording engineer's job is difficult in this situation because of mic over-spill, but it's also part of their job to capture "the vibe" of a group of people in a room, making music together (IMO). And don't get me started on studio processing... Yes, we're about to go into the studio for some recording, and the engineer wants to use click-tracks and loads of processing. (sigh)
  10. Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting - Reg Dwight
  11. I remember wanting one of these back in the early/mid 90's. GLWTS.
  12. Motorway City - Hawkwind
  13. Lord of Light - Hawkwind
  14. First and Last and Always - The Sisters of Mercy
  15. Best car for carrying gear? Someone else's.
  16. One Vision - Queen
  17. Surely Adam Clayton has to be mentioned in this thread...
  18. Lysergic Communion - Warhorse
  19. Not sure about the Cat 2, but a nice SB sets the heart a flutter, especially if it's a twin pickup model.
  20. Likewise, always thought they were great looking basses and whenever one comes up for sale here, the GAS creeps in momentarily (same as when a Westone Thunder comes up!).
  21. Green Manalishi - Fleetwood Mac
  22. Used to have a Leon ST, great car for lugging stuff about. Have the Leon Hatchback now. I think it's pretty good for carrying stuff, decent sized boot & the back seat is wide enough for the bass case.
  23. I Against I - Bad Brains
