Calling International Rescue - We've Got A Fuzzbox And We're Gonna Use It

TBH, I have no idea. I suppose it comes from thinking that rounds might damage the fret board (or lack-of-fret board in this case). With flats, there would be nothing to damage the 'board. And always assuming that the typical fretless "mwah" sound was flats. 🤷♂️
-
Surprised at folk using rounds for fretless, would have thought the de-rigeur choice would have been flats.

Indecisive - Newton Faulkner

Have you tried it with a lower Gain setting? 90% is a hell of a lot of gain, and will produce hiss, no matter what volume you're playing at. Just a thought.

Just goes to show that you really can't beat moving a bit of air.

Had to relearn how to play when I stopped using a plectrum. It was worth it IMO. Just something very satisfying about playing. Though, as others have said, horses for courses. There's merit in all techniques.

Bought Mudpup's surplus to requirements Mono strap on Sunday evening, arrived Tuesday afternoon. Great stuff. Top bloke to deal with too.

If this is all you're using, then POD Go would be ideal. When you say running 2 basses into it, is it 2 basses at the same time, or do you swap basses? Both the POD Go & HX Stomp only have 1 guitar input, so if 2 basses were playing at the same time, then you'd need 2 units. Still just scratching the surface of the POD Go, and not really looked at the output options. Not sure about HX Stomp's output options.

The POD Go has the same amp, cab, mic models as the Helix, it's just a few of the effects models that are missing. Recently bought a POD Go, and getting some really great results from it, bought it to replace a POD HD500X (which is still a great option BTW). The big question is how many effects are you running at the same time? Only need 2 or 3 at once? POD Go is better. More than 4? Maybe a parallel signal path? HX Stomp definitely. Will you use the amp / cab modelling, or are you just interested in the effects? Both the Helix & the POD Go share the same amp & cab models. You can load third party IR's onto either if you want. However, if you're only wanting to use the effects, then go for the HX FX instead. You get all of the effect models from Helix without having the amp/cab modelling.

That's probably why the importers charge so much more for lefty Ric's. I think it's probably more down to the cellulose lacquer they use. Cracks around the feet, but also in the corners of the case. I think that moisture must get in to the broken case and reacts with the glue or foam or something. Why can't they provide cases that are harder wearing? Must admit, that one always baffled me as well. I think that there's enough space to trim the plastic, but I'm not going to attempt it. My other one has a black plate & TRC, so you don't notice the gap. Yes, single ply scratchplates, and it's quite a thick chunk of plastic as well. When you consider your standard FSO style scratchplate is approx. 2mm thick, a Ric's is about 4mm.

It might just be a case of playing with the TB500's EQ, as well as your pedal settings, as obviously, it's not the same as your practice amp. Assuming that you have a rehearsal space, it maybe worthwhile booking it for an hour or so on your own, just to mess about with the amp & pedals at reasonable / band volume levels.

Line6 POD HD500X & Line6 Bag. Now £185 inc. UK Postage. Prior to the Helix, this was the flagship Line6 multi effects / amp modeller, with loads of connectivity options on the rear panel. Still sounds great. I've been using it for years, primarily for bass, with no problems, currently has the HD Bass pack installed, but you may need to buy that from the Line6 Store. In great condition, comes with the Line6 bag, PSU, USB Cable & instruction book. No box. Revised Price: £185 including UK Postage

And there was me, happy with my lot, until this popped up on FB Marketplace. Bugger. Don't know what it was with Ric cases, this one and the last one I bought were both broken, and both reeked. Both basses now rehomed in newer, non-stinky cases.

I thought that the whole Sub Pop thing was played down as well, as they'd been releasing loads of interesting stuff pre and post Nirvana, which was getting played on the likes of John Peel's Show and others. Did that as well. Good times. What's also a bit forgotten is that Nevermind took a little while to gain momentum when it was originally released (like a lot of "classic albums" really I guess). Next thing you know, they were everywhere.
